Hi, is this the volvo caliper which is used on the brake upgrade for the e21's?
cheers
I don't see am image, but the 240/242/244 caliers were all the same from about 75 to 1991, just make sure you get the ones for vented rotors, w/o abs. Part numbers are listed in the FAQ thread.

Andrew, you mean 1975 to 1991.
I'll copy a reply to a PM I just wrote verbatim, maybe I should add this to the DIY?
I assume you've read the diy in the faq thread? It's very thorough on this topic.
According to parts suppliers, calipers off of ANY volvo 200 series car (240, 240 turbo, 242, 244, 245, 264) from 1975 to 1991 with vented rotors will work. Some of the earlier cars used ATE calipers which are interchangable with the girling calipers. Parts suppliers no longer carry the ate calipers so you'll get girlings (more common anyway).
Here's the volvo naming convention:
1975-1979: three digits (in the format 2XY, where X represents the number of cylinders and Y represents the doors: 2 for coupés, 4 for sedans, 5 for station wagons)
1980-1985: trim level letters (the three digits were omitted in North American market)
1986-1993: 240 followed by trim level letters (third digit no longer reflected body style)
The cheapest deal on rebuild calipers I've seen is on rockauto.com.
I just purchased some off a 240, they're for vent discs. I paid 200 for the two.
I went to Rockauto out of curiosity and found.
"Wholesaler closeout 30 Day warranty $17.62"
For the Beck-Arnely Remans.
Heck, even if you pay full retail there, Raybestos remans, not loaded, are like $40.
Problem is, none of that's going to fit under my turbines!
Even if I had the wheels, I just finished chopping my brake lines out with a pair of pruning shears!
Ugh! I can't wait to do Volvo calipers!

slot the caliper mounts, clearance grind the high points on the outside edges of the caliper and I bet they will fit. They fit under 13" steelies.
Ah Josh, you're killing me!
I came within a hair of pulling the trigger on this just now.
However, when I threw the two discount calipers in the "Shopping Cart" I discovered that they were both RH and one was vented and the other *was not*
Even with one on clearance and the other retail w/ core plus shipping, it came to only $120 total!
But I got cold feet.
The devil on one shoulder was saying, "Just do it! You'll never find them this cheap again!"
The angel on my other should was saying, "They don't fit under turbines. And besides, dumbass, you've got 14 projects in queue already."
P.S.
When I do do it, I'm seriously considering getting a set of steelies and having them widened.
I don't know why I like those wheels so much.

What pads do i use if im using the volvo brake upgrade?

I bought PBR metal master pads from FCPgroton. I bought all my stuff from there, rockauto may have different options. I don't know of any high performance options but I'm sure they exist. Check with the guys on turbobricks.com.
that's weird, I checked that out. $17 for a loaded caliper is outrageous. just get the left side loaded for the $80 and do it. While you're at it, you have the option of NOT slotting the caliper mounts, reversing the side of the mount ears they are mounted to and running 285mm mini cooper rotors. When my rotors are toast and I can justify spending the money this will be my next upgrade. I've only seen it done once and plan to document it well when I get there.
You will have to check for caliper to wheel spoke clearance.

Your point is the same as my point which was: I'm a moron.
I just grabbed the two discounted ones and threw them in the cart before I realized that they were both RH and only one was for vented.
I then looped back, this time actually paying attention ...
picked the right ones ...
and then chickened out.
Ahhhh! Stop it!
Must .... not ... buy ... more ... AWESOME ... STUFF!
(for my Inop. car)

But are they volvo pads or e21 pads i use?
Volvo. After all, the whole point of upgrading the calipers is to get a larger contact patch (amongst other things). Try Hawk HPS.

I was planning on experimenting with Corrado G60 rotors (280mm) with Mazda RX7 calipers. Picked up calipers cheap so I ordered some Corrado rotors. I was hoping to be home this week to see what it will take for this setup. Work has just asked me to stay in Canada for another week and I'll be gone during Thanksgiving week so it may be a while before I can do a write up to see if I can make the Corrado rotors work with RX7 calipers and can I use the Corrado rotors with my existing volvo calipers.
