My 95 M3 wipes the floor with a dinan 335i

I was coming back from the drug store picking up my prescription, as i've been really sick recently. And this E92 335i comes flying up on my bumper. We end up the first people at a light beside each other, but when I saw how old the guy driving the car was, I said "nah, he's like 60, no way he wants to go". So I causally strolled out of the light, but he didn't have the same idea. He blitz-creek'ed it through 1st and second gear. I was kinda shocked to see someone his age want to play. But I also can't let an older guy show up someone of my age....and E90/92/93 drivers need to be put in their place, as they all seem to have some sort of inferiority complex (j/k - ish). So I roll up beside he, and he was already in second at about 40mph just waiting on me, so I threw her down into second, and as soon as I did he hits it, me having a big laggy turbo, it takes a second to get spooled and going, but once it spools up and I stop spinning I proceeded to blow his doors off. By the time I got spooled and going he had about a full car on me. We went from 40-100ish. I ended up about 1-1/2 cars in front of him. If we had kept going it would have gotten really, really ugly for sure.
Up the road a ways we end up at a light together and he's says in a very heavy German accent "how much horsepower does that thing have". I replied "about 450". I said it was a good run, and his car was very quick. He then told me it had the Dinan software on it, and it wasn't fast enough apparently. It was a great run, and good to see people of his age still wanting to play around.

good deal - not unexpected considering the weight difference in addition to the HP advantage

North Carolina?

You're not too far from Spartanburg SC, you might have been racing one of the BMW execs or managers. You remember the plates on the car? Were they SC plates?

The interesting thing about BMW people... ALL of them are into cars. It's pretty nuts.

That's the worst thing about a turbo car.

When you're expecting it you can brake boost, but when someone (especially someone quick) jumps you, and you've got to sit there with your foot on the floor just waiting for boost...ugh, it feels like an eternity. Then again the lag of a big turbo pays dividends once it gets moving.

A 35r must have halfway decent response on a 3.0. My 8.3:1 compression 2.0 sucks hard with throttle response (in Garrett terms i'm between a 3076r and a 35r).

Dinan tunes for the 335's are garbage. Utter and complete waste of money. Good run nonetheless OP.

true that. It might be that dinan tunes them conservatively for reliability purposes. Dinan would lose a lot of respect in the bmw community if all their tuned 335i's blew up 20k miles down the road.

Well of course, everyone knows turbo lag just gives everyone else a chance!

Thats one of the reasons I LOVE my S4 Avant. Not much turbo lag at all. Sure there is some, but its not to bad. Most people I race in it don't expect a wagon to keep up them

A 35R feels pretty damn good. I have an SC61 on a 8.0:1CR 3L M52 (S52 stroked) and a DIY tune, and put down somewhere in the low-mid 400's now that I've added timing and boost. Anyway, over 4000RPM, it spools quick, maybe half to one second of lag, and then I have a freight train pushing me forward. And my 255's don't usually spin unless they are cold, or the ground is colder than hell. So yes, lag isn't too bad with our displacement.

LOL maybe 0-40, maybe. I'd still give you a run for fun if you're in my area. First, it'd be reasonable equal or you may be ahead a little. Second gear, about 1sec in, I'll be pulling ahead, and 3rd/4th, well, we all know how those would result.

Raced few turbocharged cars and no problem up to 120MPH.

Having said that I was pushing over 600Hp on my Supercharged M3.

What this guy said. Alot of us around this area are willing to play in our BMWs, even the older folks. Countless times I've been on 85 heading home from work and without a second thought I'll be doing 90+ with a few other lease BMWs following suit or leading.

Hell, even my mom wouldn't hesitate to race people in her 135i while she had it.

She's since moved on to an X6 XDrive50. 400 hp twin-turbo V8 with mountains of torque...that thing FLIES.

Well funny thing is when you talk about the older guy with a newer car is that he could own your ass. So while you might of beat him in that car don't try to beat his wallet!

So post up some pictures of your car in THIS thread, and give all the details about your setup, I think you're 100% full of it. No WAY a supercharged E36 M3 is making anywhere near 600hp w/o a built motor a ton of boost and a some nitrous.
