| 2006+ (E90, E91, E92, E93) (2006) The quintessential sports sedan is back - and better than ever. With a powerful 255 hp engine featuring Valvetronic technology, a 5-link/5-beam rear suspension, performance and luxury are perfectly blended in a more powerful, more agile sedan. |

Buying a 2006 330xi tomorrow NEED ADVICE
It has only 30kmiles and no bad service issues at all, only really oil changes done.
The extended warranty is $3000, should I get it or not even bother? I will probably own the car for only 2 years and sell it around 80k miles. |

Well, depends, how many more months or years does it have left of warranty? If you have it until 2010 or so then just drive it around, beat up on it, and see if anything goes wrong. If you are taking it into the dealer all the time other than for basic maintenence then you should get warranty. It will also up the value of the car a little bit due to it having warranty opposed to no warranty...

Gamble with me on this one....
Take $125 in cash each month and put it in an envelope. Use that money for repairs (brakes, tires, and oil changes don't count, that's maintenance that you'd be paying for anyhow even if you bought the warranty). At the end of the 2 years you plan on keeping the car, my bet is that there will be an assload of money in that envelope.

Is it certified BMW? If so it should come with 6yr 100K mile warranty. If not $3K seems high. Shop around. I purchased the 4 yr tire warranty for $1.5K with my 06 330xi. Since Jan 09 I have already had 2 flats. That is worth it for the run-flats.

a) CPO costs the dealer $1500
b) CPO doesn't cover everything and there is a deductible c) there is a HUGE amount of profit in an aftermarket warranty (non CPO) d) do you really think the car is going to breakdown and cost over $3000 to fix in the next two years with the current mileage? e) what "critter" said To answer your question: Don't bother with it.

Recently got a CPO 06 330xi with 35000 miles from Laurel BMW of Westmont. Had the following issues 1 week after purchase:
1. Moisture developing at the base of FLH headlights when driving thru rain. 2. Driver side chrome door molding popped out 5th day of ownership. 3. Rear windshield weather strip loose. 4. Faulty trunk lift cylinders. 5. Dent on FRH rim, deep curb scratches on the rest f the 3 rims. 6. Wind noise coming either from windshield or sun roof. 7. Door dings and minor scratches. 5th day at service tomorrow, got an 09 328xi for a loaner. Skeptical about buying a used car but since it's a Certified Pre-owned BMW, I was under the impression that BMW's standards are set higher than other luxury brands. Keeping my fingers crossed... |
