| Z3 (E36/7, E36/8) (1996 - 2002) In 1996 BMW added the Z3 to the lineup. First available only with the 1.9 liter engine, the Z3 went on to carry every 6 cylinder produced between 1996 and 2002. A fun, sporty little 2 seater came both in convertible and coupe form. Being a bit of a “parts bin” car, the Z3 is part E30, part E36, but all original. |

Suspension help 02 MZ3
Did a long search. Here's where I'm at...
02 Mz3. Into work there's 3 tall speed bumps that i go over 2-4 times per day, depending on the day... Lowered, I think i might be in trouble. my last (00M) roadster had about 1" bars (front to rear body brace) engineered in. These would hit unless i was going very slow. So since most drops, including coilovers seem at least 1" and more like 1.5", I'm not sure it's an option. The car is a driver, probably never be a track car. So last car had done bilstein HD and it was marked improvement, but ride on the highway probably a bit worse than stock, but definitely a worthwhile mod. Options i'm looking at #1 Bilstein HD 550, stock springs #2 koni sport 675, stock springs #3 TC Kline SA kit stock height but stiffer springs 832 is the TC kline going to be that much better, Price isn't huge issue but don't want to waste money here.... I'd like to drop the car for aesthetics but think i'd be kicking myself for doing it grinding over those speed bumps daily, so I think I have to stay stock height... Is there something else i'm missing? Joe

You want TC Kline's with height adjusters - http://store.bimmerworld.com/shared/...t=products.asp
"Whether your looking to dial in your ride height for that perfect look or corner balance your car for ideal cross weights, this system's adjustable perch assembly give you the ability to get the car exactly the way you want it. Ride height can be adjusted from .5" to 2.5" below stock height." Just installed, at max height, and 450/500 springs, I'm getting a 1/8 inch drop - within the stock spec. However, I'm expecting some settling. |

Are you taking them at an angle? I have my car nearly on the lowest setting on TCKs and haven't had much trouble getting around.

Overkill? guess it depends on the individual, I drive my M roadster primarily on nice weekend days, a nice run up Little or Big Tujunga Canyon or similar. I think the TCKline SA coilovers totally transformed the cars handling--- best money spent on the car so far.

these look very nice but as i understand are nearly 1600 bucks right? That's a big leap from 550 for bilstein HD. Not sure if I'll see 1000 improvement in back road driving will I? Joe

I think you will find most that have had the basic aftermarket packages like the system until they compare the TCK back to back. Then they usually remark how much better the TCK rides. If I were doing it, even on a street only car, it would be TCK. It's just a more refind package.

The SAs do totally transform the car - better ride and better handling. Two of the things I liked about the TC Klines are: 1 - its a "forum tested" solution. Many forum members are happy with this mod. The solution to any problem is just a "search" away. 2 - the flexibility of the system. Don't like the ride height, easily adjusted. Don't like the spring rates, for $100(?) you can buy new ones. If your tastes/circumstances change, you can cheaply adjust. Too much of a good thing is wonderful. ~ Mae West Last edited by dougmcintyre; 11-10-2009 at 10:48 AM.. Reason: Automerged Doublepost |

I've had my TCK S/A set up for a couple of years and I'm still very happy with it. Works great on the street and track.

TC Klines are definetly on my list. Ever since I switch to the Dunlop's my M Coupe has taken on 4x4 height.

Likewise, and with all of these recent threads on spacers, etc. I'm starting to get a list together of what I "need" for this conversion.
Never heard of TCK doing any group buys before.
