1991 - 1999 (E36) (1991 - 1999) The first modern 3 Series, the E36, was the model that paved the way for the 3 Series to be named "Car of the Year" every year since the model was driving off showroom floors. Radically redesigned in 1992, the E36 was not the same 3 Series as the E21 and E30. Larger, less boxy in design, and equipped with a dual overhead cam engine, multilink rear suspension, and a more finished interior, the E36 balances sport with luxury.

Rethreading 95 325IS spark plug hole experience?

I've searched online, and tried to find what I can do to rethread a stripped spark plug hole. Been reading threads here and haven't been able to get my e36 back on the road. Frustration has set in. About given up. Any suggestions? Removing the head taking to a machine shop is out of the question at this time. Been at this for a week and a half. I've purchased several different threaders but none seem to work. I'm lost at what to do next. Please help!

Heli-Coil... I've seen a blocks head bolt holes all heli-coiled in... they work, but I wouldnt put them on a FI car, but for a street car/dd it should be fine...

The problem I'm having is I can't get the tap to start thus is where the frustration has caused me to throw up my hands. I don't know what else to do or where to turn except here hoping that someone will give me some type of answer solving this week and a half long frustration! I've read every thread I could find here about the subject, went online to find post on other sites and still nothing ha worked for me. I don't want to give in to defeat but I just can't seem to find what will help me.

the head needs to come off to repair properly, i woul'nt try to repair it on the car because those methods are often not as good and you will get metal shavings in the cylinder. that week and half you spent trying to fix it would have been plenty of time to remove the head and take it to machine shop or even fix it at home on a bench if your short on funds.

I have a very in depth thread when I had this issue as well. I ended up getting a helicoil stuck in there, that also fell in the cylinder, and i had to retrieve that too...so I think you may wanna look up that sparkplug hole thread by looking up my handle...if I can find it I'll post it here too. Simple if you don't do what I did...lol..
