| 1999 - 2005 (E46) (1999 - 2005) Starting in 1999 the E46 3 Series picked up where the E36 left off. Larger, with smoother lines, and with more advanced engines than its predecessor, the E46 easily held the title of "Best Car of the Year" throughout its life. |

Dude, you should just do a search in this forum for the info. It's been discussed over and over and there is a lot of good information there. I'm sure that Uminitza will be on this thread like flies on sh!t to tell you that their angel eyes are the best on the planet earth and surrounding solar system...

I have the 84 Orion LEDs.
And sockethead I don't know why you have a hate against Umnitza. If they have the best (meaning better clipping system and far less failures) and brightest angel eyes on the market and all of their customer's love them, why wouldn't they market it? They are SPONSERS on this forum....... ![]()

I suggest sticking with LEDs, they are brighter and more reliable. The kit we offer includes everything you need for the install and works on prefacelift xenon and non-xenon headlights.

Regardless of whoever you buy from
Watch for:
Oh, by the way, they're called ANGEL eyes, not ANGLE eyes. That's the first thing you should know about them. Last edited by lampskin; 11-08-2009 at 07:04 PM.. Reason: Automerged Doublepost |

Hey 1SiK3,
I'd stay away from most of the "generic" rings you'll find on ebay. You'll find lots of stories about the poor craftsmanship that goes into them. I don't know your financial situation, but if you're looking to upgrade your lighting beyond basic bulbs, our Orion V2 kit is a bargain @ 150 shipped, simple installation. Our Angel Eye upgrade is arguably one of the most dramatic, beneficial, and least expensive improvements you can make on your car. But don't take my word's for it: "search.....best of the market r the orion predator v2 from umi!!! get em"_ dak1b " If they have the best (meaning better clipping system and far less failures) and brightest angel eyes on the market and all of their customer's love them, why wouldn't they market it? "_ Monk3y We offer CCFL upgrades as well, but as Nick suggests, our LED's are both MUCH brighter and more reliable, as you can see here: http://www.umnitza.com/albums/predatorice/ice92.jpg "I suggest sticking with LEDs, they are brighter and more reliable."_ Nick@ Jlevi SW

But than again, it's all personal opinion. I think anyone who prefers the LOOK of LED's over CCFL is blind. To the OP, CCFL's are a hit or miss situation. You may end up with crappy ones, or good ones. It also depends on how good you install them. One thing people hate about CCFL angel eyes is that they don't light up in cold weather, but this also depends on your ballasts and how you install them (I don't have this issue, it just takes about literally a minute or 2 for them to light up FULLY). One good thing about LED's are that they are definitly more reliable, I haven't heard of one person having them and them failing. If you are going to get CCFL's, I highly recommend you install them properly and if the ballasts are crap, order them from a site called Khoalty (my previous ballasts were garabge compared to the ones I ordered off Khoalty). There is NOTHING wrong with CCFL's. Some people (myself included) actually prefer the look. People are with 100% certainty going to tell you that they will cause your car to catch on fire. Believe it or not ... this is not true. I used CCFL's for 3.5 yrs on my 1999 328.
It is ONLY in the cold that CCFL's sometimes take a while to warm up and reach full brightness. But yes - LED's have less "weak links" and are more reliable. EBAY: Buy at your own risk: Please keep in mind that MOST of the kits from eBay do NOT come with a wiring harness and you will either need to buy ($25+shipping) one or make one. Remember ........ just because they are for sale on eBay and the ebay seller says they are the greatest thing since sliced bread it's not 100% guaranteed to be true.

I'm having my Umi orion predator v2's installed as I type this. I'm pissed at myself for not being able to follow a diy to do this. I got as far as getting the lens out and being able to clip the rings on! I was half way there - it was the wiring that freaked me out! - many people say this is an easy job - makes me feel stupid
![]() ![]() I'll let you know what I think of them. I'm excited for the fade on/off feature when you unlock/lock the doors. I hope they know these have that feature, now that i think about about it!!! |

I for one can vouch for the ccfl's almost catching fire. The quick connect harness that the ballast go to the harness are not very well planed. I had both sides melt together at the connectors and almost catch fire. they were crispy and not in a good way. I then just did a splice and heat shrink tubing to connect them permanently and they were then fine. I had them in the car for a year.

well, all I can say is - do you seriously need them any brighter than these??! V 2's installed and look awesome! The only oversight I had was that I have halogens, so there is a mix of warm and cool light. But, that's only at night I guess. During the day it won't matter.
