Looking for a single exit "track/race" muffler setup on my E46 M3

Ive seen a few nice race cars with the single exit exhaust pipe. Its one that appears to angle down. nothing fancy overall, but I'm digging the look.

I was recently in an accident and my supersprint race muffler doesnt sit the same way as it used to. The muffler was bent back as close to original as possible, but still not perfect.

I also want to increase the sound level of my exhaust system so I was considering of doing this track/race single exit exhaust setup.

Are there any consequences to doing this? Is there a specific type of muffler I should be looking at or is this all custom done?

Right now I am running the supersprint stepped headers with the supersprint section 1 piping with RT cats, supersprint resonated x pipe and supersprint race muffler.

I was considering doing custom setup from the super sprint headers with that single exit muffler pipe, just need to gather up some more info and make sure this is not a bad idea in any way.

Thanks in advance.

Just remove the muffler and extend the section two so it flows out to the bumper. You could easily swap back and forth if you wanted.

If it's on a race car, it probably isn't a "cat back" muffler setup that you can buy and bolt on. Most race cars tend to simply buy a race muffler or two and have their own piping bent from the headers back.

Yup, I figured its a fully custom exhaust. Anyone have recommendations in the NNJ area for a good exhaust shop to make something for me?

Could you install a a single borla xr-1 for example? Also some tracks have a db limit like Lime Rock so keep that in mind. Turner ran a single muffler on their koni challenge M3's so give them a call.

Like others have mentioned, Mike and Donovan at Maximumpsi are the guys to go to. I had them do my side exhaust and they fabbed up a great 2-1 collector to mate to my brothers side exhaust. Can't beat their work and willingness to help out.

Some pics of my new exhaust setup that MaximumPsi built for me. They are great guys and did the job in 2 days. Top notch craftsmanship and exactly what I was looking for. Charged me $1150. Ended up not going with the resonator. Sound is sick, very exotic sounding. They did full 3" SS piping, custom y pipe, 3.5" piping for the tip and clamps to mate up for my stepped headers. Love it...

Thanks guys! Glad you like it. I was surprised by the note when we fired it up. I thought it would be a bit rough on the ears without a turbo to quiet things down!
