engine leaning back against engine bay, bad?

I was swapping out t-cases in my iX (now I have one working stock one and one project one ). To get to the top bolts holding the t-case onto the transmission I left the motor mounts connected and just tilted everything down by putting a jack under the transmission, unbolting the bracket, and lowering it slowly. Suddenly though, the jack kept lowering, but the transmission was just floating there. I realized it was because the engine had rotated back so far the cylinder head was touching the firewall so it couldn't go any further. I was kind of worried but I figured now that it was resting there I wont hurt to leave it there so I finished the job that way. When I put everything back up and together, it actually seemed fine. Everything appears to work so far. Is the firewall supposed to be strong enough to do that or did I just get lucky or what? Has anyone done this and ended up with it breaking/bending anything?
