New Member - BMW Alpina B10 V8

Greetings to the board!

Thought I'd make a short introduction of myself together with some pictures of my cars.

I'm from Sweden and aged 29 at the time of writing. I've had the opportunity to own some great cars over the years, and here are a few pictures of some of them.

'97 BMW Alpina B10 V8 #121 - 340 PS / 470 Nm

I just recently bought this car in order to replace my other toy, as it was a bit too expensive driving around when being a student. I've got great plans for this car in the future, though no major modifications as I don't want it to lose its Alpina identity. All modifications made will be fully reversible if I should ever want to.

'99 Nissan Skyline R34 GTR - 500+ PS / 550+ Nm

This car is currently up for sale as it's too expensive owning it now that I'm a student. I've owned it for more than 3½ years and it's both fun and expensive transforming it from bone stock to its current condition. This was the fourth R34 GTR imported to Sweden, and it's became fairly known among car enthusiasts here since.

- - -

And now for some previously owned cars:

'95 Nissan Skyline R33 GTR - 350 PS / 460 Nm

The surge for a high-powered car left me no peace after selling my previous BMW Alpina B7 Turbo, and a friend of mine suggested I try something different for a change. I had by that time only driven BMW's of different sorts since I got my driver's license (including a turbo converted E30 323i). The result was this beautiful car, imported from the UK as one of the 20 first R33 GTR's in Sweden.

'80 BMW Alpina B7 Turbo #156 - 360 PS / 520 Nm

I've owned this car two times, first from 1999 to 2000 and then from 2003 to 2004. It was upgraded from a regular B7 Turbo to a B7S Turbo by Alpina themselves, and they also did some further tweaks to get even more power and torque out of it. Last time I sold it the car went to a collector that has begun a thorough restoration process.

- - -

Next Project

I'm currently in the stages of planning my next project. I fell so in love with the sound and driving experience of the B10 V8, so I intend my next project to be a BMW Alpina B3 3.3 (E46 3-series) converted into a BMW Alpina B8S using a B10 M62B46 engine combined with an ESS Tuning SC. If anyone has performed the operation of dropping a BMW V8 into an E46 chassis, or if you've heard of one, I'd really appreciate some info.

Cheers for the comments guys, much appreciated.

graywolf316:

In addition to not being able to motivate the costs given my current financial situation (total income of about $1,400.00 per month), I also felt the project had run its course. The R34 cost a smaller fortune to build, and the value in money is only surpassed by the amount of headaches it has also caused me. It was simply time to move on, and I've always had a particular liking for the Alpina cars.

More pictures and info on the BMW Alpina B10 V8 can be found here.

More pictures and info on the Nissan Skyline R34 GTR can be found here.

Although being a Swedish website, the specifications of the cars are listed in English.

Thanks for the info.

I've heard about someone in Germany having performed the same operation as well. I'm also aware of the BMW E46 M3 GTR and the Hartge H50 (IIRC) using the engine from the E39 M5, but I suppose they're not the guys to ask for advice on performing this kind operation yourself.

Why do i hate the car prices in Sweden compared to what i have to pay!

Nice cars, really love your B10. Which part of Sweden do you roam around in?

Hehe, I've heard that car prices in Denmark leave a lot to be desired to say the least.

Honestly I have to say that the B10 is the car I've enjoyed the most so far. For sure, they've all had their charm, and while the B10 cannot compare to the R34 GTR performance-wise, it holds its ground in all other aspects. I hope the future project will be able to offer the R34 GTR a challenge.

I live in the vicinity of Jonkoping, due east of Gothenburg.

Could sell my 320i and nearly buy M3 for the same money in Sweden

Gothenburg is abit up the coast, is it getting cold up there?

Maybe I should sell my R34 GTR to Denmark and get paid good money for it?

It's nor warm anyway, I'll tell you that. Temperatures range from -4° C during the nights to +6° C during the days.

Thanks for the comments, I'm glad you like the cars.

I guess you could say that I feel quite fortunate to have been able to fulfill most of my automotive dreams. Everything's possible if you just work hard enough. I've never won or inherited any money, this is all due to hard efforts working full-time as a trucker and using my spare time to redecorate bought apartments (and then selling them at a higher price of course).

Love the cars you've owned. R33 and R34 are some of my favorites. What kind of wheels were on the R34 in those pics?

On the contrary; the only surplus I've ever experienced is that of financial hardship... But then again, my interest and taste in cars may be the very reason for that.

Those would be custom-sprayed BBS LeMans 18x10J ET20.
