My new e30 88' 325 what ya think~ pictures in my album

Hey all, I will post pics in the morning so hold on for a few more hours... Alright I have a couple of questions, I currently have a 87' 325i as my daily and i have been through the entire car and engine, 24lb injectors, big air meter, exhaust, chip, etc... I am pretty fluent when it comes to the e30/m20 engine pretty much all around, trouble shooing, fixing, etc... Anywho, enough about that car, I have a few questions regarding my newest purchase of a 88' 325(A-4 reads on inside of door) Car manufactured 12/1987, VIN to follow w/ pics... QUESTION#1. Previous owner stated he hooked battery up backwards and tried to crank it... What damage will that cause if any??? I am thinkin ecu possibly... QUESTION#2.. The engine looks different than mine especially the intake(pics to follow) someone said its the 88' super ETA w/ the i piston/rings, i head, etc... any truth to that? As far as mechanical questions, what should i look for when trying to get bad boy running? PREVIOUS OWNER STATED::: car has sat for 2.5 yrs, he hooked battery up backwards, abt 3 -4 weeks ago he got it to crank for a few seconds by squirting starter fluid... My main concern for now is getting the car to crank N start right up idle an run smooth. Of course befor I start driving her, i will do the obvious" hoses,t-stat,H2o pump, t-belt/tensioner,drive belts, etc..." But as i mentioned i just want to get running first, SORRY for no pics right now BUT I WILL POST PICS LATER THIS MORN!!! Either way car was a steal for the price( fixed 2 stihl chainsaws and $150) Any and all feedback and advice much appreciated!!! Thanks and will be in touch!!! PEACE!! I added pictures but cant seem to get them in the thread, Sorry, But if u go to my albums there are a few pics of the 88'

So whats up???

PICS ARE IN my ALBUMS
