Switching from Evo IX to 335i, 335xi. help

Hi everybody. I am new to the forum, and yes i know how to use the search button. I have some more specific questions then AWD vs RWD

I'm a looking to get a 2007 335i, or 335xi. I'm not sure whether to go AWD or RWD. I live in Detroit so i do get to drive in snow, but I also own a jeep that i can drive if ever then snow is bad.

My question is why should i go with the awd vs the rwd or vice versa besides the ability to get around in the snow. I'm used to the AWD in my Evo and it is putting down 400hp to the wheels and my fastest time is an 11.7. Is the power difference in the X noticeable?

Also I can't seem to find anymore detail on how x-drive works except that it is a 60/40 split until a wheel starts to slip and it gives the wheels with the most traction. Is it possible somehow to enable it so it is always a 60/40 split? The evo is a 50/50 split with no traction control. How does traction control work in the AWD on the 335xi? Can you have fun/drift in the awd version in the snow? Is the RWD version so bad in the snow it's undriveable?

Also what do you get with the premium suspension package? I read somewhere that it has nothing to do with the suspension but it's just the wheels?

Thanks for all the help. Sorry if these questions have been answered, and I really don't know how to use the search function.

You are mixing things up here. Anyway, The sports package on the x-drive models does not include an upgraded/lowered suspension and the suspension is steel vs aluminum.
The AWD on x-drive is all computer controlled so you cannot "customize" it. You can always enable DTC or disable DSC all together to have more fun in the snow.
Does the 335xi accelerate faster than it RWD counterpart? Most reviews say yes by a couple of tenths or so but I am not sure what the difference is in the 1/4 mile and I am not sure if that is so important.
RWD with good snow tires is very manageable, so x-drive is not a must for snowy weather although it does provide an advantage and that added clearance does help.

Hey... Here I found my neighbor.
I live in condo next to DIA. Probably you know where I live.
In winter my friend who has 350z
He couldn't get into parking structure. cuz incline a little bit at the enterance.
Also I drove RWD 2years ago....that's horrorble..

Detroit has alot of snow in winter not like Ohio.. you know that.. I think go with AWD better.
Also recently I sold my SUV and get 06 330xi.

Sounds like you'd be more comfortable with xDrive. It's got a little understeer, but you can definitely have a lot fun with it with DSC off.

350Z with summer tires in the snow isn't going anywhere. Snow tires on RWD are fine. They sell more RWD in Germany where it snows often.
