cool features from your car learned after u bought (doesn t HAVE to be BMW)

Feature must have been learned way after you owned the car.
Doesn t have to be from your bmw

my mk3 jetta (1996 with the vr6):
learned that the key can open and close all the windows in the door lock when the car is off
intermittent wiper cn be set to any time from 2-6 seconds (pretty cool)
has an electrical system that limits slip on low speed launches
MFA button on right steering stalk shows gas mileage, oil pressure, water temp, outside temp
mirrors are heated (very awesome)
seat belts have pretensioners for added crash safety

E36 M3:
key in door lock can close sunroof
cabin lights turn on if outside door handle is tried to open when doors are locked (odd feature really)

lets hear your crazy/cool features that made you happy when you learned on your car

i got this idea from the car lounge

I find on average 1 new feature per month on my e38 and I have been driving e38s for 9 years. There are too many to count.

Just today I found that I can easily fit several 10ft boards in my car with the ski hatch open.

lol, OP, I too recently found out about the lights coming on when you pull the handle from the outside of an E36 M3. I'll have to try the sunroof trick though...
Awhile ago, I found out that theres a button on my stock radio that will show the name of the radio station scrolling across along with the song playing. Thought that was pretty awesome for a '95.

Gas door locks when car locks.
Key can roll up windows from outside.
Lights turn on if someone tries to open the driver door when doors are locked
Heated mirrors.
38 degree cold weather warning.
Wipers slow down when stopped.
All of this for a 20 year old car.

Now... that should be standard equipment on every car.
Or, just a big-ass electric shock maybe .
Haha - the bigger the ass, the bigger the shock.

I can take out the fob of my e90 after shutting off the engine. Hit the start button again without touching the door, and the car will start again. Then go back inside and let it warm up in the winter with a locked car and steering wheel. Way cool, I mean Warm!

About a year into ownership, that the compartment between the seats isn't just a rectangle but actually "L" shaped.

I was very happy when I found the heated windshield in my 02 landrover. We had an ice storm a week later.

I really dig the way the Volvo interior lights fade on and off. No sudden blinding when you open the door.

Headers, probably should have noticed them before, but didn't. Definitely made me happy.

same here, forgot about those, I couldn't believe BMWs "economy car" had such nice tube headers from the factory

Two exhaust pipes that run the full length of the car.
50/50 weight distribution
Battery in rear
Top can be put up by key from outside of car
Everything that the OBC can do

I knew a lot of this before i got the car, just saying.

When I turn the car off, when I remove the key, if it's dark outside the interior lights will turn on, but if it's bright they won't. Not sure if that is related to darkness or the time of day on the OBC.

Had the car for nearly 4 years before I learned that it had an extensive OBC hidden menus. You can check and adjust nearly everything from your car!

I learned that if you tell a girl you have an electric red BMW they get wet. Oh, and I learned that the key automatically recharges everytime you drive the car.

The windshield washer nozzles and door lock are also heated on the E34 535i, a really good feature in cold climates.

BTW my 987 Porsche doesn't have wipers that slow down when stopped. That car is seriously prehistoric! I wish BMW made mid-engined, more seriously sporty cars...

My jeep had a secret air-tight compartment that you couldn't see in the c-pillar that the previous owner had installed... i owned it for three years before i found it by chance installing new speakers...

Sometimes I wish I could turn this feature off, it's prefect if someone wants to see what's inside of your car.

There is two more things to add to the list. Sadly I don't see that happening. They keep getting bigger and bigger
