ASC Indicator lamp on/Solution Found
The cable from the actuator to the throttle valve had become loose (I don't know how) BF guys asked me to check, so I tightened it. Little did I realize that not only it had fallen off it's groove at the bottom of the actuator, but also come off its anchor in there. I had to pay a visit to a scrap yard to see inside a broken one. Came home, opened the actuator flap I am pointing at in the picture, put the cable back in its anchor and groove and tightened it, problem solved
Further I cut a plate spanner 10 mm, the size of the flats on the end of the knurled adjusting screw, drilled a hole in line with and the size of the existing hole in the anchor at the throttle end, and made it into a lock that would prevent it from turning by itself. This may be an over kill and not even necessary if you regularly check the tension in there. I think there should have been a lock nut designed by BMW. What do you think? |
