Guess what I will doing this weekened?

I have acquired a 2000 E39 HID headlights for my 97. All the parts I need are in. I can't wait to start on it.

Headlights with ballasts cost me $150
AE cost me $30
Adjusters (2 sets) free from my friend.

Seems like a useless swap. If your going to swap them out looking for an upgrade why not put the 2001 and up Xenons on? I would think lights from a 2000 are the same as the '97?

Yes, they are true OEM HID's. I just cannot pass up the opportunity that was presented to me.

The whole headlight assembly for $150, not just bulbs and ballasts?

If I was running stock halogens and could get OEM HIDs from a 2000 for $150, I would be all over it. Big price jump to get the 2001+ lights.

Nice score, funny enough my pre-facelift lights have grown on me, well after my smoke lenses. But going from stock halogens to stock HIDs for $150 is a nice deal

My friend with a '97 540 did the same swap. The light output is far superior, it's a night and day difference.

halogen fail to xenon

xenon 35 watt = 3x light output over halogen 55 watt

Reflective halogen vs projection xenon..... SHOOOUUULD be a no brainer
