Vibration until Tires Warm Up

Hello, I have Pirelli Nero M/S on my 04 545i sport: 18 inch rims 245/75 (I think.) Initial tires had .04" runout and Pirelli took them back (via Bavarian Auto). New tires, no runout when balanced, but still experience vibration durring the first 10 minutes of driving. Is there a flat spot that gets evened out as tire heats up? Other thoughts?

Thank you as always,

Andy

Some tires will develop flat spots when sitting for extended periods (such as overnight) in cold weather. As the tires warm up, they soften up and the flat spot goes away. I have no experience with Pirellis but I've experienced this exact problem with certain model Bridgestones in the past.

Thanks for the input. Not thinking control arms because it's not in the steering wheel. Taking to the dealer on Monday, to deal with a rash of problems and will investigate this. I must really love my BMW's because this particular problem is really hard (read costly) to diagnose.

I have a set of P Zero Nero M+S on 18" m-Pars on my 2003 540. I have about the same feeling as you. I Roll out of the garage and a little vibration for a 5 mins or so. When my PSI is up a little bit @40+ psi the vibration is not as strong. So that leads me to agree that the tire just takes a flattened shape easier at a lower psi and softens / rounds out as they are driven. Likewise do not feel it in the steering input.

It rolls nice and smooth at any speed after that warm-up period.
Does the fact that the viration trails off abosutely exclude the possibilty of control arm bushings or is that typical?

BTW I am about to retire them. I got about 35k miles on them. They are wearing evenly and are lasting well. Replacing them any week before winter sets in, with dedicated snows on diff wheels and get summer tires in the spring.
