I hope this will help somebody ...
I just resolved my both !! remote key problems
Both were weak ... work , don't work click click click ...
all this make me crazy so i was ready to meet my dealer soon and pay some $$$ for new keys
Today i decided to open them and see if i can replace batteries
( this what people said on forum )
For my surprise batteries were good in both ! ( as it suppose to be for 6 years old car, no ? )
( 2.9V , 150-160 mAh) and the issue was in loose connection between battery and electrical plate
In both the same issue !! .. unbelievable ... it looks like some manufacture defect ... xmmmmmmm
I marked this place . It's not clear from the picture because it's another side of battery ... but it's there
So i didn't change batteries - I simple used soldering gun and soldered them
From now i need only one click and it works far enough from my car but ...
I am dissapointed in BMW keys ..

This totally fixed my problem. The battery is just too loose and needs more tension. Basically, CAREFULLY solder a little bump under the battery where that arrow in the photo is pointing, this will put more pressure on the retaining clip.
My key now works 100% of the time from a lot further away. While you have they key open check the battery voltage. Mine was at 3.12. EASY fix, saved $218 now having to buy another key (with same factory defect)
My key was intermittently working and this solved it! Thank you so much!

glad it helped you
I want to send a HUGE thanks to Champaign777 for saving me the heartache of buying two new keys that could have sent me back the price of two highline tires for the BMW.
I can't believe how a small solder bead where the contact is made an 8 year old key become like new again. Great info and great pic to help!
Thanks again brother!!!!
Matt

Where exactly solder a little bump ??
I hope someone can help.
On the battery side of the key, one of the tabs holding the battery was in fact loose. I'll solder it back into place.
BUT - it would see to me that when I hold that tab in place, and get good voltage across the two nodes marked by red arrows, that when I push one of the buttons (yellow arrows), the key should actuate. Yet it doesn't.
Is my key more fried than I thought it was?
Here's my key's insides:
yes this is the way it works , the yellow buttons
try another battery ( i bought my 2 from ebay ) and double check all connections
