1991 - 1999 (E36) (1991 - 1999) The first modern 3 Series, the E36, was the model that paved the way for the 3 Series to be named "Car of the Year" every year since the model was driving off showroom floors. Radically redesigned in 1992, the E36 was not the same 3 Series as the E21 and E30. Larger, less boxy in design, and equipped with a dual overhead cam engine, multilink rear suspension, and a more finished interior, the E36 balances sport with luxury.

Angry Parking Lot Idiots

So yesterday I finish up classes and head out to my parking lot to enjoy my daily cruise home from college in the bimmer. I hop in and head for work as I go straight there after class on Wednesday. During work my friend comes into the shop and asks me "Who keyed your car?" I stare at him blankly for a second then blink and laugh and tell him good joke. Then he says "No really. Who did?" Realizing he's not joking I drop what I'm doing and go outside. And I see it. A scratch half way down the driver's side. WHAT. THE. FUCK . Midway from the driver's door and all the way back over top the wheel is a scratch. Not a key scratch but a scratch none the less. Needless to say, I'm extremely pissed. I'm forced to park in a parking lot where no one else cars about their cars and the parking spaces are too small and no matter how far away I park from people, someone has to park next to me. I'm never going to know who did it or how and I think that bothers me even more. I've been fifty-fifty on selling it but now I'm really considering it because its just way too much work right now to keep it nice and protected from fuck jobs. So to people who rub down the side of cars in parking lots and throw your doors open without looking and shit like that, here's to you

yea i know but with all the good the car has brought, its brought bad too. BS speeding ticket: allegedly doing 90 in heavy traffic. how do you speed if cars are all around you??? insurance: after I sold my other vehicle, my insurance went up 110 a month after I became the primary on this car. and now theres the fact that this isn't the car I want to daily drive for fear of people messing things up. i'm anal about everything because its so clean. i make my friends close the doors soft, and shoes on the mats at all times. dont set stuff on the outside roof or trunk lid. i'm a nazi about stuff with it. my friends get pissed at me but with how much cars cost in the long run, why would you NOT be anal about everything?

I gave up on nice cars as I got a beater 328 that I'm dumping my M parts and goodies into. This way I don't have to worry about the body so if it gets a scratch or dent it still looks the same, but it will destroy most cars out there.

It's so stress free not having to worry about your car every day.

This seems to be the way to go.
After a few years of saving up and modding to your delight. You can then just get it painted the color you want. After all the work you've invested you can actually be anal and not worry about it. I mean seriously.. Who could get mad over someone telling them they can't set their coffee cup down on the fresh estoril blue.

No cameras. Theres only three light poles in the whole parking lot. I started parking next to this kid with a huge F-350. He said he got tired of stuff like this happening so he lifted his truck about 14" and now he doesnt have to worry because no one's door are tall enough to even get close. Him on one side and a curb on the other should keep me safe for now.

We have a lot of lifted trucks around here. I'm gonna start parking inbetween them from now on! I can't stand the feeling you get when you see a fresh dent or scratch in your nearly perfect body :/

I had something like this happen to me with my 540. I went to shop rite with the wife (normally we take her car) but I wanted to use mine since it was at the end of the driveway and I want to drive since I put the new suspension in it. None the less I parked and some dumb ass pushed a shopping cart across the front bumper of my car. So now I need to get the bumper repainted in the spring by then I should have my M-Aero lip for the car as well.

As some one said its great to have a car that you do not care about. I had a company car which was great no need to worry about do dings or anything. I then got a Sable which I would not care where I parked and did not care what happened to that car. So much less stress to have a car that I did not care what happen to it.

Well that PLUS with my BMW I usually park far out. With a POS beater you park ANYWHERE.

Well there you go, lift your car up 24".

Sorry about your car man. I think we've all been through a similar scenario.

That's the thing was that I parked out in the middle of the lot where no other cars where and then we i came to the car some big ass SUV was in front of my car. Personally I the person owned that truck had a kid and they got a cart did not want to walk around there large SUV so pushed it between my car and the truck causing a scratch on my bumper.

Mother Nature just crapped all over my 325 yesterday > I was even standing in front of it, I got lucky as hell though. It was super windy yesterday and a giant ass tree branch broke off from one of the trees in the woods surrounding my house (reason I pay the extra $ for comprehensive) and landed right next to the 325, scraped along the side of it as it fell... thankfully it didn't dent it and it already needs a paintjob pretty badly anyway. Still pissed me off though, but mostly I was thankful I wasn't standing where the branch landed, as I had been a few moments before it fell :0

i went into walmart came out and watched this idiot back right into the drivers side of my car. so rare you get the luck of catching it happen. i stood in front of the ladies car daring her to hit me and called the police. she still tried to deny she did it with my green paint staining her bumper. she tells the cop"can you please hurry and tell him(me) to let me go i didint hit his car and im in a rush im late to lunch" cop looks at her and says well i guess youre gonna be real late cause im taking you to jail for a hit and run. my mouth dropped and the ladie got out of going to jail by calling her insurance and dmitting fault on the scene. i was lucky to catch her cause some haters i grew up with had keyed my car like 3 months before and my homeboy's dad is a paint and body man who did all the body work on y car plus shaved my front and back roundels for 600$ i painted it. paint and clear fell off a truck for 50$ and the ladies insurance gave me 1900$ so im out ahead i only paid 350 for the car.
oh a good way to prevent this is get a dvr system and put in your car. the systems costs have went way down and theyre easy to install. pictures worth a thousand words usualy if you show the idiot a photo of there ignorant move then there you go.
no matter where you go theres always one out there

This seems like a good thread to vent in .

The other night I ran over a glass bottle (in my '78) that some idiot left in a grocery store parking lot. Really dissapoints me up to think about how lazy or stupid some people can be.

ERRR!!! Done venting, Robert

Oh man this brings back memories....bad ones but memories nonetheless. Back before my bimmer days I had a '00 camry and just had the rear bumper replaced and painted (yet again another smart lady who can't tell red from green". I park the car in the lot accross from the lot I worked in. I used to install (audio/video/gps/security) and normally I like doing it outside for the freedom, space, and fresh air. It was december and up here in NY it can get pretty snowy at times. So anyway, i'm inside working on a car (i can't beleive i remember this but it was a red e36 sedan) installing an alarm. We have the radio going inside to help drown out some of the shop noise and the constant alarm horn testing so of course I couldn't hear much. It's the end of the night now and I go out to my car and low and behold what do i find? One week after getting the bumper sprayed I find an impression of where someone hit it, cracked/chipped paint, and shards of the guy's parking lights still resting on my bumper.

No one in our lot, the other lot, or the store 10 feet away supposedly heard or saw anything. So now I have to deal with having wasted money on a rental while i was waiting for my car to be painted and having to clean up the other guy's mess. I was so infuriated with it that I felt like just ripping off the bumper and rocking a steel bumper lol.

Well I feel a lot better now. Hope you guys do too.

And OP, don't sell the car. I felt that way when installing my elipsoids and cracked the parking light tab just like everyone else. Waited a couple of days, took my time with a dremel and zip ties and I felt much better haha.

Don't sell it.....bring her back better than ever!.......we have the technology
