Would like a little input and info.

Im getting ready to jump in on this supercharger build for my E30 M50.
I just have a few questions to ask.

Where should I buy my ARP 2k head studs? ( Going to order from TCD along with clutch. )

What gauges do you suggest I buy and where? ( This is a list of what I have. What do you think?

Boost/Vac 6359

Oil temp 6348

Oil pressure 6327

Water temp 6337 )

Im also going to need a wideband setup, so what do you suggest for that? ( I was looking at the autometer kit, #5978. I have heard that this kit can be a little slow? But a few people suggested the AEM kit or Innovate kit. suggestions? )

Do I need a FMU or FPR? ( found out I dont need it since Im getting a custom tune chip from TRM )

I come here because you guys seem to have the best info on all of this stuff, even though there is only 15 pages to look through its kinda hard to figure out the info you need because it is so scatterd out and one person will say one thing then another will decline and say another.

You can get arp 2000 from trm or George @ ICS. Vac also has them iirc. As far as guages go... Go look at Defi gauges... they are the shiz.

I have an aem wideband gauge set up that woks well, I would reccomend it,

You will need a rrfpr. Aka, fmu. I have a Vortech super fmu if you are interested in going that route... Worked great for me on my turbo car, and is used in conjunction with your stock regulator. VERY simple hook up. Then the fmu is fully adjustable.

DO NOT get a fixed rate fmu.

ok as for gauges what ones should I get? Air/Fuel Ratio, Boost, Intake Temperature, Oil Temperature, Oil Pressure?
What RRFPR do you suggest, also what do you think about the oil cap from IE? run a oil cooler off of that?

Yea, your ideas for gauges are good! Cant really go wrong monitoring to much... As for that oil adapter cap from ie... Seems legit. I wish I could roll it on my m52. Can I? I dont have the metal one with the bolt on it , but maybe I can convert...

only the one of what RRFPR you suggest. I would rather buy new or close to it. I dont want to get ready to drive this damn thing and be stuck because of a used part I could have spent a few dollars more on a new one.

Well I can tell you that you DO NOT want a fixed rate... Ok so you want to be able to adjust the ramp angle and pressure... I have no experience with the begi, but i have lot of experience with the vortech super fmu

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/VOR-4FC-238-068/

Or I will sell you mine, which is complete with the box it came in and instructions and fittings already installed...

Scratch that, jegs owns summit on this one.

You do not need a rrfpr if you plan on getting a proper tune. The rrfpr is a hack to get more fuel into the engine when you do not have a proper tune.

Greddy has the best gauges for the cheapest price IMHO. DEFI is nicer, but more money.

For a wideband, I like the AFX, but the AEM is fine if you don't plan on running leaded fuel, as the Bosche sensors don't handle the lead as well as an NTK.

I should but that would just be the easy way out. I like building stuff and enjoy putting it together.

Anyways Im getting a tune from TRM.. So no RRFPR is needed. Awsome.

Well you didnt ask. I can offer up to tell everything I have now if that would help to tell what stuff I need. Or I could tell what I have on my list in stuff to get

Some of the gauges I was looking at is the Autometer wideband kit. #5978, Boost/Vac #6359, Oil temp #5956, Oil pressure #6327.
Do I have to worry about any other gauges? Water?

I personally wouldn't run autometers, but I like Japanese electric gauges. I just feel they are of better quality.

Water temp is never a bad idea, though with oil temp it might not be needed. Obviouly you will need a clutch if yours is stock, possibly a fuel pump depending on what you have. The walbro 255 is popular, the Bosche 044 is better. I would go in tank and avoid an external pump. There will be endless little this and that's froM the parts store.

Are you getting a complete vortech kit or piecing together your own kit?
