SF Fleet Week past attendees ITT

It will be my first and I want to see the Blue Angels fly mainly. Anyone here gone and can give me some insight on when I have to show to get the best free seats/views and how to beat the masses? Parking and ticket info, etc., anything helps. I'm open to buying tickets if the views are going to be terrible without paying to get in. I don't see ticket info for the Blue Angels performance time, is it free?

lol! yeah its free its in the air lol! the show is around the pier. i guess marina to pier 39 would be good. alot of people watch it on thier roofs thats what i do. oo watching it on treasure island is good too. i think there are boats that go out into the bay too.

Treasure Island and Angel Island will both give you a pretty good view, along with anywhere along the water front as mentioned above. I saw it off a company boat the first year and it was probably the best view yet from all the years I've been to. You'll definitely be able to see/hear them from AT&T Park or Union Square as well, but that will more resemble a fly over rather than them actually pulling maneuvers, pretty cool working in the financial district when they practice though.

I used to go but haven't lately. I would park in Oakland or Alameda and take the ferry over, thus avoiding the traffic. It's also a nice leisurely ride on the bay. Take the ferry and you can watch the Blue Angels from Pier 39.

Thanks, guys. Any recommendations on where to grab a seat from Marina to Pier 39? Somewhere that has a good view. I want to hear those jets scream. Or is it one of those "just show up and find a place wherever" things?

if you take the alameda ferry i have a house thats within walking distance with a garage if you don't want to park at the ferry parking lot. I have gone every year with the coast guard that is the best seat in the house especially the black boat it was awesome, but i have seen them fly from pier 39 as well. just find a place and stake it out with some friends for the whole day you move you lose your spot basically.

I watched from a boat a few years a go. It was pretty sweet, they flew right over us. Here's some pics:

We've gone to Alcatraz and view the parade and show from there.
