Radio not playing CDs from the CD Changer, help appreciated

Hello Everyone,

for some reason, in my 1997 328is, my radio is not playing cds that I put into the cd changer, the screen on the radio shows that they are in the changer and it reads for example "CD - 01," but no sound is produced, the radio stations and casettes work fine in the radio but it won't play cds for some reason. I hear the cd changer making sounds switching between cds and spinning them, so it seems to work ok. I even tried unplugging it from behind to reset it but that didn't work. Any ideas?
