Hey guys, I was just running over the thread http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum....php?t=1293795 and its been very informative. Regardess, I have a bunch of questions. I find asking you guys gives me better answers than difficult google searches. Pictures would probably make for easy descriptions as well.

Specifically, what are "clear/red tails, or smoked corners"? Also, what are "clears" by themselves?

Also, can someone tell me what the need for altering my suspension is? (obviously I don't need to but how does it make it look cooler ) Is there a certain amount to lower it?

I just got a black on black 2006 325i thats in really good condition. I just got it tinted and I'd like to debadge it, and possibly make the tail lights darker (smoke?). I'm also thinking of getting the chrome tip for the exhaust pipe, and eventually getting some cool rims. As someone fairly new to all this, do you think I'll be able to do the chrome tip exhaust pipe myself?

Lots of questions here, hopefully you guys can help me out. Thanks so much.

*sigh* Yes you can install en exhaust tip yourself.
'Clears' refer to the corner markers in the front.

Corner lights are the lights in the front corners of your car, next to the head lights. Cars sold in The U.S. have amber corner lights, and amber pieces on the tail lights. Getting clear lighting is when you take all the parts that are amber colored and make them clear. Like this:

There are a couple of reasons people change the suspension setup on these cars. The main reason is to improve handling. Lowering the car and stiffening it up will do this. It also lowers the car which in many peoples' minds makes it look better. Suspension-wise you can either go with a spring and shock setup (H&R, Bilstein) or a full coilover kit (Ground Control, Koni, H&R, DDM, KW etc...)

Coilovers have adjustable dampening and ride height (usually), and have the ability to go lower than a spring and shock setup, but are also more pricey.

How low you like the car to ride is personal preference. Some will say you can never be low enough. Others will say anything lower than stock is too low. Many in between as well. At some point going too low is going to be detrimental to handling, but many people don't care about that. Depends what you're looking to do.

As wheels go, i would recommend browsing the used wheel and tire here on the forums. Stay away from Ebay specials and bad replicas

Check out cars on here you like and ask the owner where they got stuff. I'm sure they'll point you in the right direction

gawd I'm so nice

those are rims, you put rubber around them and then put them on your car, your car SHOULD have four of them, possibly all the same

people buy new RIMS but then have to put new TIRES on them, then get them put on the car

see what he is so elegantly displaying there? that is WHEEL GAP, the space between the top of the black thing that goes around the RIM, a TIRE, and the fender, the part of the car that is directly above the WHEEL+TIRE COMBO.

suspension is the 'stuff' that makes that wheel gap smaller or larger, there are many types of suspension, many brands, many prices, many + and many - of each.

people tend to LOWER their cars using this 'suspension stuff', and minimize WHEEL GAP, the process of which is also known as 'DROP'.

this is a BMW EMBLEM, you can find one on your TRUNK and on your HOOD, amongst other places. you can replace these with OEM (SAME COLORS AS THE ONE YOU HAVE), or AFTERMARKET (carbonfiber, other colors).

you can also remove them, throw some bondo in there, and spray over it, DEBADGING your car.

this is an EXHAUST TIP, i think the red would really set off your car, you can purchase them from here: http://www.jegs.com/p/Hedman/Hedman-...69187/10002/-1

the Daul Outlet look really cool and will probably give your exhaust a much deeper, tuned, sound

You got to start somewhere. Riffman's post pretty much sums it up. I wouldn't expect to get too many more serious responses in this thread, OP.
