Hello enthusiasts,

I am officially an E34 owner now Simply fell in love with it from the first time and couldn't resist of buying it. I own a 1995 540i 6 speed in bright red color.

I have a quick interior question as a start. My back windows do go down but don't go up any ideas where to start from? IMO it is something related to the motors driving the windows up and down. I will assume that because it behaves the same way from both the front switches and the ones on the doors.

Welcome.

Does this occur for either of the switches? I'd start by checking / cleaning the switches in your center console. Lots of garbage gets in there. Try one of the front switches in the rear to confirm.

Yes both rear windows behave the same way from the center console and as well from the back switches. They go down smoothly, don't go up - I can hear a noise from the motor as its trying to push it up but no effect.

Looking at your signature I think we have identical cars I would say its hellrot if there isn't any other variation of bright red.

Hellrot is translated to bright red paint code 314. So i assumed you do have hellrot. Near identical, have you swapped an m62 4.4 in yours yet

If you need any parts though i have almost 2 e34s worth.

Welcome!

+1 on regulators. They have plastic gears that strip out.

DId you get the one in Weymouth? If so nice pick up, it was cheap.
Both of mine didn't go down for a little bit til I had someone hold the button down while I pushed the window down.

Yep the someone in S.Weymouth That's what I did to put them back up just push the button and at the same time pull the window - not an easy task to be honest.

Hah nope haven't done the swap yet :P That sounds like a sick car.

I will keep in mind your parts offer. As soon as I get it registered I will have to take care of the front wheel bearing. That's what the dude said when I got the car.

You should get a vid of the "Custom exhaust" up. Any idea who did the work? Or what they used? I'm looking for ideas on mine

YESS! Hope to see all of you at BavAuto'09 if not all of you

I checked once more - and it has to be something with the lifting mechanism - its not the switches. I tried the centre console as said before, the switches on the sides of the doors and with the key in the door. Same effect of struggle and the window motor noise but no movement up.

I guess I will have to take the door panels out and see what's going on.
