1991 - 1999 (E36) (1991 - 1999) The first modern 3 Series, the E36, was the model that paved the way for the 3 Series to be named "Car of the Year" every year since the model was driving off showroom floors. Radically redesigned in 1992, the E36 was not the same 3 Series as the E21 and E30. Larger, less boxy in design, and equipped with a dual overhead cam engine, multilink rear suspension, and a more finished interior, the E36 balances sport with luxury.

Shock and strut mounts, which ones to get?

I think to save on costs and to not overkill I will go with the E46 M3 rear shock mounts.

What do you get for front strut mounts though? Never seen anything about this, can I just reuse my original mounts? Do these not wear out?

Btw, I am replacing with a coilover setup so I figure I can't reuse my old RSMs obviously.

EDIT: Woah... i just realized you dont save any money goin the E46 M3 rsm route. 2 of those cost like $60 at bavauto.com, and then the reinforcement plates $40, and the gaskets $3. So.... I guess the best solution would be to just get the JTD style ones either Rogue Engineering RSMs from modbargains.com or Ground Control from bimmerworld.com Both are like $100.

There is a bearing in the stock strut mounts that could fail. I think coil overs have their own mounts. I bought Lemfoerders for about $27 ea.

I put new, stock, front mounts and the reenforcement plates on with my PSS9's. Rogue engineering for the back as they had one for the vert.

Might also think about motor and tranny mounts as well.
