| 1991 - 1999 (E36) (1991 - 1999) The first modern 3 Series, the E36, was the model that paved the way for the 3 Series to be named "Car of the Year" every year since the model was driving off showroom floors. Radically redesigned in 1992, the E36 was not the same 3 Series as the E21 and E30. Larger, less boxy in design, and equipped with a dual overhead cam engine, multilink rear suspension, and a more finished interior, the E36 balances sport with luxury. |

Just Purchased 325i - First Impressions/Rim Questions
Just purchased a 1992 325i with 137k on it from my uncle and so far I love it. It is incredibly fun to drive (drove a jeep before), is a 5-Speed, and has a great tone to it, even with stock exhaust. Got it on Saturday and took it on trips of 80 and 300 miles with no problems.
He took pretty great care of it, but as there is to be expected with a 17 year old car there are some issues: - Shakes at higher speeds > 75 mph (not sure front or rear) - Can slightly smell fuel (found write ups on how to fix this) - Headliner seems to be falling - Is two-tone... - OBC does not come up very clear - Passenger window goes up slow, lights for buttons out - Rear tires are bald/Has bottlecap rims So the last issues leads me to my next question. I have been reading a lot about rim fitments but still am not exactly sure about spacers. I found a couple that I'm pretty interested in. Here is one: Style #42's and this is what the guy said: "bmw sport 17 inch rims with tires 235 45 R17. They came off a 5 series but will fit many other models." - Will these fit my car? It says nothing about offset but I'm assuming they are common size and people may know about them. What size offset would they be and would I need spacers/new tires? I'll be riding stock suspension. And since tire size is the same does this mean they aren't staggered? I'll call the guy tomorrow but I don't want him to just say they'll fit and get em home and be screwed. Thanks for all the help guys! It's good to be here ![]() Also, what about these rims? I couldn't find RS740 on TireRack. Look like they may be the same thing as the Style 42. Since he says he is not sure about the offset, is there any way to measure? What would the rim width be? BBS 2 peace rims 5x120 with slicks on them. $550 BBS RS740 5x120 2 peace rim 17in with Toyo Proyes 235/40/zr17. I am not shore about the offset but they will fit an e30 5 lug swap nice , e36 and more. http://i170.photobucket.com/albums/u...6/P4160220.jpg Last edited by akennedy; 09-08-2009 at 10:53 AM..
