1991 - 1999 (E36) (1991 - 1999) The first modern 3 Series, the E36, was the model that paved the way for the 3 Series to be named "Car of the Year" every year since the model was driving off showroom floors. Radically redesigned in 1992, the E36 was not the same 3 Series as the E21 and E30. Larger, less boxy in design, and equipped with a dual overhead cam engine, multilink rear suspension, and a more finished interior, the E36 balances sport with luxury.

what did you do today to your e36

I removed my intake manifold to replace my starter. Sounds nice and simple but heres how it really when down.

I start by un-bolting everything and its going all good. detach all vacuum hoses and get to the starter. I try to remove the starter and turns out it had been removed at some point and was put on completely wrong so i spent a good hour bending and re-bending the stupid "gasket" between that and the transmission to get it back to normal and in working condition. I think the previous owner took it to some shisty shop and they couldnt get it the first time and just forced it on and called it good. But its all good got everything back to where it needs to be.

So small or big post what you did today.

Put one new strut on the pass. side and put the old one back on the drivers side. A PO put an assembly from a 92 on and none of my new tuff is compatible without $20 worth of new parts, that are on order BTW.

I installed a new sunroof cover with just 26 dollars from my local fabric store. I gave it a darker gray Then went on with sunroof button cover to give it matching touch, and last the side rails, Thinking of maybe later doing the back seats lights later.
PS I didn't remove the headliner for this

Finally fired it up for the first time after complete rebuild, new pistons ground crank etc, new struts, rotors, brakes and lines. Almost 4 months.
Spun it over to get oil pressure, then put in plugs and relays and it fired right up. Slight water leak on top rad hose, bit of tightening cured that. Otherwise looks like no issues.

I finally installed my driver and passenger seats after I removed them out of curiosity. I had to find out how dirty it was, and it wasnt that bad. I used some resolve spray foam, and scrubbed. It cleaned up ok, now I had to fabreeze and put some cologne in there to cover up the stank resolve smell.

Finally diagnosed leak in the bottom of the radiator. Cleaned the engine compartment and now just waiting for aluminum racing radiator to go with under-drive pulleys, silicone hose kit and engine fan delete!

Pulled off my door panel to see why my door won't open from the outside. Obviously broken arm that connects the handle to the latch. Looks like a pain to replace from the DIYs here.

Hmmmmmmmmm

Might be getting up with you on the front seats and maybe a couple of other things. If they're in nice condition I might get them from you and just dye them black. I'm going two tone in my interior, should be a fun time. You're in Jacksonville, right?
