rb26dett in an e36

Ok so as the title says I'm looking to put a rb26 or rb25 into my 92 325i. Before you post and tell me not to and that i would be smarter to go with an m swap or something along those lines don't do it. It's my car and my money and i want to go with a jap engine swap. So with that said i would like to know if any one has done this on here or if you know of people that have who could give me some advice. I know that i want an rb26dett or rb25det and i also know that no matter what i will need to run the rb25 transmission because it's the rwd version. Im also looking to run an AEM EMS. i will also need a custom drive shaft and most likley new gears but what other problems would you expect me to run into? Any help is appreciated.
oh and i know this is a comon question but the thread always leads to people trying to talk the person asking out of it. please if youu're not going to help keep your 2 cents. thank you

I would look in the engine conversion section of this forum. I haven't heard of too many rb26 swaps. However, there have been 2jz swaps.

Make sure the rear diff is the same ratio as the car the engine came out of, drop in the RB and it's bullitproof 6 speed, have a custom shaft made up to pull the power from the Nissan trans to the BMW rear and then you need to figure out electricity, fuel, and cooling.

Also, BMW engines are laid over, will the RB need a hood bulge to fit?

I have seen LSx engines in e36s.. if the v8 can fit, the Nissan engine can too
do you still looking for profitable investment ? investment company

I'd look into how you want to mount the turbo as I suspect the factory twins from the 26 won't fit and you'll be best going single. Think about acessories too as the intake and exaust are on opposite sides between the rb and bimmer engine.

Cool idea.

GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR BUILD, MAKE A VERY DETAILED THREAD AND SOLVE THE PROBLEMS AS THEY COME ALONG.

Theres quite a few shops that know the RB very well, mostly down in GA and Florida. I'm sure you'll be on the phone with them quite a bit, so it'd be a good idea to contact them and get some info/ideas on the swap.

Cheers,

Newman has a whole website for his build- its quite detailed and impressive. Thing should be in magazines when he's done.

Odd I have a RB26DETT in my garage out of a R32 Skyline, I'm putting an LS1 into that car. Big problem with the RB is they are huge and very heavy, I'd personally stick to the BMW M50 engine and turbocharge that, getting easier and cheaper by the day to do and vastly simpler/cheaper then an RB swap.
