horrible thing happened today

i was bored and pulled out one of the borbet type As i got off that 250 dollar scirroco i parted out a few months ago, just to fit it on the car and take some pics of the future coolness these wheels present (after they are refinished and put into new tires). i got one of them out that has a tire that holds air and took off an old red wheel and then fit the borbet on the car. since i have lug studs, they won't allow me to drive on anything but hte red wheels since the studs are so short but anyways, i bolted a borbet on. i lower it down and try to roll the car forward to settle the spring so i can look at it properly and find out the dang wheel offset isn't right for hte e21!!!!!!! damn thing is 16x9 with an et15 offset and won't fit hte back of the car. son of a bitch!! now i am super bummed out because my zenders in 15x8 et0 don't fit either so i am stuck in 13 wheels because all my spares wheel sets won't fit hte e21.

remember, they need to be refinished because they sat on a dead car for a number of years in the weather.

the one positive thing that happened after this is i got these

from a dude on craigslist for 10 bucks. he is from england and had them over there and brought them when he moved here to the good ol usa and never used them again.

so, bummed on borbets but super stoked on the racks

Where do they interfere??

15x8 et0 should fit if you use narrower tires (euro look). How narrow is necessary seems to vary on different cars.

the et0 hit on the front at the tie rod end. the et15 hit on the trailing arm (is that what they are called). at least the e30 will look super cool. i'll just have to go really old school on the e21 and run some wider steelies or something like that

Dont be a sissy. Just pull your fenders, or run a stretch.
And BTW, those wheels look great.

i have no problem flaring the fenders. those aren't the issues. its the suspension parts hit the inside of the wheels on both of my favorite types of wheels i have been saving to have refinished. i am still terribly bummed about the borbets as they are my all time favorite style wheel for bmws. i ran the zenders on my old e30 for a long time and had to roll the hell out of hte fenders and push them out almost an inch to fit the zenders with the tires i wanted. i would be willing to put flares to run the zenders or borbets but will have get spacers to run them now which is going to push them out and make me do the fender mods also. no biggie but more money to save and a longer time till they get to be put on

lol just buy some 10m spacers for the rear and then you will clear the arms, or you can grind off a bit of the lip on the edge of the arm.

for the fronts you will probably need to do the same however you may end up having to roll your fenders.

you can make any wheel fit! you just got to be determined!

i almost considered grinding the lip. i will find some spacers when i get the wheels redone. its just more money to spend, lol. the e21 is actually my do all the things i have wanted to do on other cars but couldn't talk myself into doing car since i only paid 250 for it. stuff i had never tried on other cars i do on this one to see if i can do them and its working out good. i am getting a look i have always wanted and experience for the wife's e30 (yes, the mtech2 black 4 door 318 is hers) so i am not so scared to make the changes to it later. body work has always been my weak point so i get lots of experience removing stuff and filling on this car to get hte shaved look i like. i am a huge fan of the old shaved and filled primer grey hot rod look from the old days. my 65 mustang was to nice to mess around on that i had in high school and so was my 70 ghia i had in the military. so, this little 250 dollar super cool old school bmw gets all the treatment. it gets the motor swaps, wide wheels, lowering, flaring, shaving, interior work, carbs, and exhaust.

its the only one in town now so no one can park next to me at the meets and car shows and make my car look commonplace. i get to be the only e21 like i once had the only e30 in town.

as you can tell, i like originality. the mtech2 car isn't original enough for me because a guy in town has a white mtech2 vert.
