I recently bought Valentine V1 based on all kind of reviews
( also on this forum – looks like it was designed especially for BMW J )
It looks xm… “not in a new style” for me ( for VI owners it’s only my opinion ) and gives me many false alerts .
Also it was difficult to use it as my full attention was been not on the road but on this device with his famous both side arrows J
Finally my decision was to send it back
( you have 30 days money back guaranty )
Today I am owner of nice piece of latest engineering -
Escort Passport 9500ix with GPS and can’t be more happy .
The features of this device simple not comparable with Valentine V1
( for VI owners – again it’s only my opinion )
It can be interesting to know what another owners think ...

hahaha this debates been going on for YEARS.
V1 vs passport :: http://www.google.com/#hl=en&source=...fdee0b9a2e690d
Dont have either of them....so I have no opinion. They are both supposed to be pretty accurate from all of the reviews Ive read in the past. The V1 always seems to come out on top only by a little bit though over the passport.

Can't go wrong with the 9500ix, had it for almost a year and Its been working great. Like it better than my old V1.
Its a coin toss really. They say the V1 is a bit more powerful but the 9500 will still pick up radars a long ways out. I would say if you want the GPS function then the 9500 is the way to go. However, I didnt need that function and would much rather have a LOUD radar detector to hear over the radio so the V1 is better suited for me. I personally own one of each and will be getting rid of the 9500 to put in another V1 in my second M3.
So to to sum up:
V1 = Louder and has arrows for speed traps
Passport= Nifty GPS function to program in false alarms etc.

GPS + store false alerts + internet upgrade for 9500ix
Actually the way V1 do their software upgrades ( AKA send it by post ? hahaha funny ) is not acceptable in 2009
Maybe in 1999 but not in 2009

The Valentine One is the best.

The TrueLock GPS feature is a failure. Keep locking out those K band falses with your Escort and you will never detect a cop using K band.

I'm on my second V1 cuz my first one got stolen. The cost of one ticket makes it worth it, plus you can find deals on Ebay. Works amazing for me. The only ticket I've ever gotten with my V1 for speeding was when I was overly cocky because I ALWAYS knew where cops were and just wasn't even worried about it. I took way too long to hit the brake. Other than that I never have a problem. Idk anything about the Escort but I do know the V1 is great.
I had both of them and believe me don't want to come back to V1 .
In 2 weeks when I used V1 it took all my attention on his arrows and his false alerts -
I am not so patient so I simple sent it back to Mr Valentine to do a homework and picked up Escort 9500ix .
Love it !

umm... well... I put it on the "L" setting. I ignore x bands for the most part. There may be some other false alarms, but they're decently rare. If you don't like the arrows don't look at them. I think they're great. They take a split second to glance and I'm good. All I know is, I know where a cop is before anybody else does when I go on road trips with my buddies and all their radar detectors. As stated previously, Idk about the escort but the V1 is great.
V1
/Thread
Same, same and same. This is my $800 V1, I take it with me when I go to semi sketchy places these days lol.
And damn, it was reassuring to hear the beep of it when boosting around tonight after driving my slow Eta for the last three weeks, lol. Its not at all distracting, and has arrows to let you know where the threat is... You hear the beep, and either mute it or glance at it and mute it. Simple.

V1 technology needs updating. Despite the strong fanclub and "good" reviews, the technology is very old. Unless Valentine starts updating their arrow box with something that represents the 21st centry, I will not buy it.
i had a regular 9500 and it broke and the warranty upgraded me to the ix and i have to say i love it. i like the way it looks too. i guess v1 has directional but i dont really care for that.
+1
why i need to check where is the thread ?
why i need spend time checking behind or in front of me ?
what i need is a safety drive , pass the thread and increase the speed !
i found out that the best speed for my car is 100MPH so i simple dont have time to look on radars !
+2 hehe i start to think that only me don't like this "old xm" box

How is the V1 old technology? The V1 in 1992 was the first detector with a front and rear radar antenna in a single portable unit to locate radar...Nobody else has done that yet. The V1 in 1992 was the first detector to have a magnesium case...Beltronics came out with the STi in 2006 with a magnesium case 14 years later. The V1 in 1992 came with arrows to point to the greatest radar threat...Nobody else has done that yet. The V1 can detect laser almost 100% of the time from every distance...Bel and Escort still struggle to detect laser even half of the time. The latest V1 which is $399 has yet to be beat in radar or laser detection by any Bel or Escort product in the under $500 price range. The Valentine One is also the smallest and lightest radar detector of the top dogs in radar detection.
If by old technology you mean the best then I will take old all day long.
Your grandmother must be hip because she has a $399 Valentine One which owns anything in the radar detector industry under $500.
You can call it old but it still beats the latest and greatest by any radar detector manufacturer in the under $500 segment.
It would be like you making fun of an old muscle car because you have a new BMW and the old car leaves you in the dust at a stoplight...keep laughing but old is better than new in many ways.
