Taking care against road salt and corrosion?

I am new to the Great Lakes region of the US. The road salt and snow for 5 months of the year makes me concerned about my undercarriage becoming rusty.

What is the best way to prevent and take care of a car in the snowy and salty part of the US?

I wash my car every week - is there anything else I can do to prevent rust/corrosion?

Thanks

wash it often , dont let chunks of snow, salt and ice build up in your wheel wells . its doable but sucks . i had a jeep wrangler when we painted it all under neath and like 5 inches up was in the bed liner stuff , but thats the extreme end lol

You want to get a product called fluid film. I buy it by the gallon, and heat it up some and use it in my paint air sprayer gun. I spray my truck down real good every winter and reapply as needed. also works great on the plow!

You could get it oil-dipped/sprayed to protect the undercarriage. As for paint, wash it, clay it, and then top it off with a good sealant before the snow starts falling. Sealant lasts a lot longer than a traditional wax and one application should last through the winter.

If you do get it rustproofed (which I am not sure really works, results are inconclusive here where they use salt liberally for 6-7 months), then makes sure you tell them not to drill holes.
