1999 - 2005 (E46) (1999 - 2005) Starting in 1999 the E46 3 Series picked up where the E36 left off. Larger, with smoother lines, and with more advanced engines than its predecessor, the E46 easily held the title of "Best Car of the Year" throughout its life.

fan clutch tool

Where did everyone get fan clutch removal tools? I tried ordering one from ZDMAK online, but it probably won't get here in time for when I need to do this. Are there any brick and mortar stores that anyone knows of who carry these things?

I use a long flat head screw driver (between the fan clutch nut and pulley bolts). Works for me.

Sorry dude. It's ok...you'll use it....you just don't HAVE to.

Nothing wrong with having the right tools to do the job...

Go to any store and buy a 1 1/4" wrench. This will fit the fan nut perfectly. 32mm = 1.25"

Then you can stick a long screwdriver in between the waterpump bolts to hold back.

There's no need for special tools other than vanity.

The 32mm should fit...the removal tool I got didn't really fit, so I used a basin wrench I had lying around and hit it with a mallet. Worked the second time I think, but it was really easy.

That's because you need a 32.156743mm wrench....

I bet because your nut is slightly rounded (and has burrs) that the wrench won't fit.

Are you saying it's smaller than 30mm?

Mibes a 32mm and fits perfect. Please provide more details on your car.

Thanks

I love ya (no homo), but your question may be better answered over in the E30 section.....

and consequently enough....>30mm<32mm=31mm....lol

If that doesn't fit...I dunno what you're gonna do.....hehe

Go to a local bike shop and buy a Parks Tools headset combination wrench (32/36mm), about $15.

The 32mm doesn't work bud...

He'll round off the nut when he smacks it with a hammer...
