| Z3 (E36/7, E36/8) (1996 - 2002) In 1996 BMW added the Z3 to the lineup. First available only with the 1.9 liter engine, the Z3 went on to carry every 6 cylinder produced between 1996 and 2002. A fun, sporty little 2 seater came both in convertible and coupe form. Being a bit of a “parts bin” car, the Z3 is part E30, part E36, but all original. |

Crutchfield audio system for Doris....I think?
Has anyone used Crutchfield to buy and install their own audio stuff in a roady? I've never installed a sound system in a car. I'm not interested in anything from BSW or the other sub site.
I've got two new Hertz 5.25 woofers to replace my current blown sub-woofers. As cash comes available I'll buy an Alpine 305 HU, Boston Acoustic 5.25 kick panels. Not sure what I'll put in the doors yet but it will probably BA something as I've always liked the sound from Boston Acoustics. Alpine has a new plug and play 45 watt power pack that sits directly behind the HU that will drive the Hertz sub-woofers (in name only). I'm also gonna put another Alpine 4 channel amp for the rest of the speakers in the current HK amp location in the trunk. Crutchfield appears to provide a complete install guide. However, Crutchfields "Outfit My Car" index is pretty foggy on what fits and what doesn't fit in an ///M roady. They don't show the wanna-be subs or the mids in the door. So I'm wondering how complete the installation guide is. I'll probably replace all the wiring as well and install a Sirius Satellite system as well. I'm guess it'll be a whole weekend job or not as I've been flopping around like a fish trying to figure out what I'm gonna buy and who will install it. One thing is for sure though. I've gotta have it done by the last week in December. My son and I are going to take Doris out to California. |
