Like the title says, cut off the muffler/silencer on the 540/6. Sounds AMAZING in person, everyone so far loves it, even my fiancee. And my friends with Audi S4's and S8's like it a lot as well.
Also have much better throttle response now, and it's not just my ass-o-meter telling me. When I blip the throttle when I double clutch, I never used to get it right, now the engine actually revs instead of "burps."
All it took was 10min with the Bosch Cordless Sawzall.
Price was right

I know it's a very short run, I'll have to find another place to do it some day.

That sounds awsome!! I'm doing it on Sunday!!! Where should I cut?
Haha, thanks. I'll have to find a spot somewhere else, I knew I'd get called out for that!
As for cutting it, you will see where you have to cut when you're underneath. Right at the bend. This is what it looked like taken out.

Sounds great Definitely sounds better in person (I had done the same thing before I got my setup).
P.S. Isn't that thing ungodly heavy? ^^ lol
You're gonna weld up a piece in place right? Not too good tio have the esxhaust dumping where it's been cut.
Understeer is when you hit the wall with the front of the car and oversteer is when you hit the wall with the rear of the car.
Horsepower is how fast you hit the wall, torque is how far you take the wall with you.
Why not as long as the material around the outlet can handle the heat....right?
Lots of people use exhaust cut outs and they just dump where ever you put them in.

I plan on doing this soon, I wonder if anyone can enlighten me on what the negatives to leaving the cut of portion untouched. I've seen some guys have just done a turn-down piece.
I'm still planning on getting a Borla muffler in a while, so I was just gonna leave it for now. It is pretty heavy, I was holding it up with my foot while underneath so it wouldn't fall on me

Guess I'll get one of those today. What size are those? 2.75''?

i think mine is 2.50" and you have to file down the tip where you cut off the mufflers to get the turndown to slide on
Does your video do the mod justice. Sound better/worse in real life compared to the vid.
Sometimes its better to make a good run than a bad stand.
I think it sounds better. I've shown at least 10 people and taken them for rides, and they all love it. Noone has said anything about it being too loud, ricer, or anything.

it sounds awesome. mine was like this for all of an hour when i had my new muffler put on. i'll have to post up a sound clip some time
Removing the muffler also removes an exhaust mount point. Does the rest of the exhaust shake or rattle against the car?
Mind putting up a pic of the underside of the car where you cut it?
I'll get a pic. Haven't had any problems with any sounds.

did mine this morning with a sawzall like flamewerks. It took 1 minute to get the muffler off and an entire morning of looking and calling around for a turn down pipe. I was told multiple times that 2.75 is an uncommon size and hard to find(in this town anyway). Long story short I paid a kid at carX 10 bucks to expand a 2.75 elbow and cut the other end flush so it blows downward, but doesn't hang down. Then I used a 2.75 pipe clamp. Anyway it sounds as good as the video that started this thread!! I had my brother take it around the block a few times while I stood on the sidewalk and, while it sounds amazing from the inside, it sounds a million times better from the outside!! Thanks for the idea flamewerks!!!
