NOTICE POSTED AUG-12-2009:

Our most popular thread has grown too long so it is time to start a new one. Not to worry, none of your original posts have been lost. They are all archived here:
http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum...d.php?t=912350

Please note that this thread is for the sole purpose of introducing yourself and your new e9x to the community. Any questions should be posted in a separate thread. Ideally you should do a search and update an existing thread if a similar topic was discussed before, otherwise feel free to start a new thread. Questions here will most probably go unanswered.

A warm welcome to all new members. Feel free to contribute and as always, please respect and follow our forum rules.

*************************************************

Thought I might as well update this post and introduce myself to the newcomers and old members alike.

I have been a BMW 3-series owner since 1997. My 1st brand new car was a US spec '97 e36 318ti (Bright Red with black leather/red+black cloth-insert combo interior) which I leased in Boston soon after I started my 1st full time job in the 128-495 high tech belt area. It was custom ordered from the factory in Germany and was a great fun car to drive. I loved it so much I kept it after the lease was over and long after the warranty was over and even after I moved to Canada. I sold it in 2007 (painstakingly forgoing lots of memories) just a few months after leasing my 2nd 3-series, a Canadian spec e90 323i (see my signature).

I've been a BMW enthusiast long before owning one, from the highschool/university days when I spent lots on time in my friends' bimmers, to the time my dad bought a used 1978 730i which I got to drive, enjoy and punish for a few years.

I joined this forum slightly after getting my 323 in 07 and have been a member since. I was recruited by the forum admins to help moderate this section of the forum and consequently other sections too (namely the e9x M3 and 1-series). Those who know me will know that while participating as a regular member in the forum discussions, I am outspoken and straight to the point but usually fair and friendly. However when acting as a moderator, I am a strict "No Nonsense" guy who will proactively try to squash conflicts even before they occur, and I treat everyone fairly but according to the rules of the forum without exception.

Feel free to send me a PM when you have questions or issues regarding the forum or posting on this section, but please use the "Report Post" feature marked via a "" whenever there is an inappropriate post or thread, this way other moderators and admins will be able to attend to it if I am away.

Enjoy the forum and esp. the e9x section and have fun with your cars.
Cheers,
Matt

Hey everyone. I don't currently own a 3 series, but I'm pretty sure after I graduate from college it's going to be my new baby. I currently drive a Scion tC but I've been drooling over a Le Mans Blue 335i Coupe with a front and rear carbon fiber lip. That's my goal for my next car with some Active Autowerke parts. I spoil my tC now... I can only imagine how much washes and wax I'm going to have on the Bimmer.

Hello all:

I'm new to the Bimmerforums and from the Philadelphia area. Just got my new 2009 328XI in November but I still miss the old body style of my first BMW (2001 325XI). I have to admit, I wish BMW would move the cup holders!

-Nicole

JC316: Is that really how backed up BMW is with their new 3 series?! Wow, when I got mine it only took 6 weeks to come in!

New Touring

Hi all,
Just joined today!
Picked up my 09 328i xDrive Sportwagon (Touring) last week.
Space Gray/Manual

Love it so far. Would have (in my dreams) loved a 335d xDrive Touring, but we never get the good stuff over here...

Its my first BMW, though thru family members and close friends have driven many over the years. Replaces a 2005 Saab 9-2x Aero.

Very pleased with the driving dynamics and interior appointments thus far. No oil dipstick is a bit odd, as is the lack of a coolant temp gauge.

Looking forward to learning a lot more about the cars from you guys.

2nd BMW 2008 328i, Premium, tinting, comfort, logic7 sat/radio

This is my second BMW not by choice, got help totalling my 2005 330i in June. appreciated the engineering and the air bags, walked away without a scratch. Unfortunately my Dice IPOD unit will not work in my new car and I am trying to get some money back on a $1595 extended service warranty that I am not going to be able to use from BMW. Any advice on IPOD unit that will work on new Hi definition Logic 7 radio with Sirius Sat ?
Dice does not have one I am checking out the mobridge. Hope to get alot of good insight from this forum and maybe be able contribute some myself.

Cheers, Wildman

Hey All

My name is Justin D. and I am new to the forums. I just purchased a CPO 2007 335i Coupe. The car is sparkling gray metallic with a coral red interior. It has the premium package, cold weather package, and the sport package. It is fully loaded minus navigation. It is a 6-spd and completely stock. I have owned in the past a 2001 Audi S4 and a 2000 Lexus GS400. This is my first BMW that I have owned and I absolutely love the car. I would like to tastefully modify it in the future once I find exactly what I want to do to it. I figured these forums would help with general questions as well as to spark some ideas of what I would like to accomplish with this car. I will be posting pictures of the car soon. I live in Boston, Ma and I have a general love of all high end/sports cars.

Hey

Hey everyone, just wanted to introduce myself as well. My wife and I picked up a 2007 328xi replaced her Audi A4. I'm really glad we did the change. Big difference. Anyway, if anyone has or knows anyone selling a set of wheels for our 3 series, please let me know. Don't have much money but would like to start dressing up our new baby. 18 inch wheels with tires preffered. Anyway, glad to be a part of this forum. . . .Take care everyone !

I've always wanted to join this forum so I had to go out and get a BMW. Now that I've taken care of that I can stay? Purchased my first BMW a few weeks ago. Tough decision between the Monaco Blue with Beige or Saddle. Went for the Saddle for the more sporty look as opposed to the more classy/luxury look. After all, it's a Series 3. To me that size is more sporty than luxury. It does turn heads. Unless it's me they're looking at. But, since I wasn't turning heads in my Altima it must be the car. Glad to be a member.

Hello,

I just bought my first BMW a mint 2006 330i last weekend. I have to say I love this car. For years I have read magazine articles about BMW 3 series and was always curious about how BMW could be a favorite every year of these writers. About 6 months ago I suggested to one of my employees who was shopping for an Audi to look at a 3 series . He bought a 2006 330i. When I drove it I was instantly sold. I set aside my plans for a 2010 Camaro SS and began to take a closer look at the 3 series. Right now the 2006 330i is a great deal. They are coming in on lease returns and like mine can be had loaded for about 23-24k. Based on that I grabbed the best one I could find. The price made it very easy to jump on. I suspect I will be driving nothing but BMW for many years to come. My wife is already asking for an X5.

Hello all. I posted here with a couple of questions before I purchased my BMW, but never really thought about it after. Anywho, I started looking at forums for one thing or another recently and remembered I had an account here. I now have a 2007 328i which I very much enjoy.

Hey, I'm a proud new owner of a 2007 335i sedan. I was actually looking at buying a new mazda 6 or altima, but ended up looking at used cars and ended up finding this gem with 17k miles on it for a great price. I want to thank this forum like the other posters above me, because the forum has some really knowledgeable people and provides me with a wealth of information on bmw's. Thanks!

New Arrival

Just took delivery of a new 335d last week.So far I love it.The combination of performance/acceleration and fuel economy (trip computer read 49MPG for a 30 mile highway trip at a steady 62MPH) intrigues me to no end.Hoping to learn much in the coming weeks/months about the E90 in general and the diesel in particular.

I have a C5 Vette now that im selling to get a 335i soon.

Looking to get either blk or charcoal grey with the sport pkg and nav. Maybe the premium pkg as well.

My plans are to get the Dinan stage 2 on it so that it will run with my old Vette!

Soon to be 335d owner, Kingston, Canada

Good day all, although I'm not yet a true member of the E90 board yet, I will be shortly (so the plan goes) so time for a quick intro.

Currently an E34 540i/6 owner and a CRD Liberty and TDI Jetta also fill the garage. My wife loves the CRD, so it stays, but it's time to reduce my fleet size, and of course I want the best of both worlds (I love the E34 6-speed, chipped and fun, and the TDI sniffs fuel) so I am days away from pulling the trigger on a 335d.

Deposit down, and days away from picking up:

2009 335d, Space Grey, Black leather, Sports and Premium Package.

Needless to say, pretty exciting...and hard to argue with such a beautiful car that gets close to the same mileage as my faithful TDI!

Without question, I'll drop "proud new owner" pics into the appropriate sub-board as soon as I can, so as to hold off all the cries of "This thread is useless without pics!"

I look forward to sharing my own experiences as well as learning from those who have a bit more time under the E90 saddle.

Cheers
Duey

-----UPDATE-----
335d is now in the driveway after a quick 700km/420mi jaunt. Pics in the forum here. Wow!

Hello to all my fellow BMW enthusiasts. I just bought my first BMW, a used 08 328i. Bronze with tan interior. It has steptronic auto and the iPod adpater. Not really sure how to tell what other packages are installed, but it has heated seats.
I'm really going to enjoy driving much more now. I'm very impressed by the engineering and tightness of the car. Great ride for such a sporty car.
Please feel free to give me tips about maintaining and driving the car, I am new to BMW.
Thank you! I'm glad to be a part of this group!

Proud new co-pilot of 335d

We just got my wife a 2009 335d. I was calling all over the southeast trying to find a Jetta TDI w/ manual transmission when they seemed to evaporate with the cash for clunkers craze going on. I was unwilling to take a chance on the Jetta's DSG tranny, and found BMW's $4500 incentive on the 335d while perusing a consumer website (I think I was on Consumer Reports). Having my own clunker (93 Ford Aerostar with 545000 miles) then adding the $4500 from BMW and an accomodating dealership ($2800 off) plus the $900 tax credit on 2009 taxes made it a no brainer. Man it drives incredible, and hard to believe it's a diesel... until you feel the torque. I'm hooked. Need this engine in more cars.

Hello all...I'm Lenny from Maryland and I just bought a used 335i coupe.
It has 6,400 miles on it. It's equipped with a 6 speed manual, sport, premium, comfort, and Nav. It's Montego blue with cream beige interior.
First mod. will be rims/tires...any suggestions or pictures would be appreciated.

Take care!
