bmw navigation pathetic!

Have a 335 xdrive 2009, love the car and really have no complaints but I just took a trip from northern Illinois to the U of I university in Urbana Illinois. Programed the navigation and also took along my TomTom. The TomTom is spot on if you make a change from the route, it will make adjustments and reroute you. The Bmw nav will drive you crazy, constantly telling you to make a u turn or directing you to every next turn to go back until it finally gives up and finally agrees with the TomTom. My 16 y/o son recently almost got lost from dekalb Illinios. He wanted to drive from dekalb to woodstock illinios and the nav wanted him to go south, get on 88, go to 39/51 north to rockford, then east on rt 20 etc. to woodstock. Go ahead look on a google map to see what I'm talking about.CRAZY

Does your car have real time traffic? The car will choose the fastst route based on traffic.

You may also want to check your preferences for the navi. It has settings for fastest route, avoid tollways etc.

Making sure you have those set properly should help, but no navi system is perfect. It has alot to do with the map manufacturers. I also live in McHenry County and it says that the street that my home is on is 300 feet South of where it is. And that is on all Navigation systems I have tested.
