1999 - 2005 (E46) (1999 - 2005) Starting in 1999 the E46 3 Series picked up where the E36 left off. Larger, with smoother lines, and with more advanced engines than its predecessor, the E46 easily held the title of "Best Car of the Year" throughout its life.

Front bumper question

Hello all.

So during the spring the fiance parked the car a tad to close to the cement divider in our condos parking lot. When she backed up the left side of the bumper hooked and it snapped down. I looked at where it clips in (i think it clips) and it seem like there were plastic hooks there that are broken right off. I looked at realoem.com but cant seem to find the plastic part.

Has anyone replaced this before? I was thinking of just using a clip and a screw and mickey mouse it.

If you are referring to the tabs on the bumper cover that guide the cover onto the mount, then you are probably looking at a bumper cover replacement. Time for mickey mouse....

The bumper its self has long holes and above that mounted to the actualy body is plastic which seemed to have hooks on it before they broke off. I'll take a pic tonight and post it.

Im going to sell the car so a mickey mouse job should work.

Oh snap!!!! you would do that to a fellow BMW owner? Wheres the integrity in that? Fix it right....you are the one that has to look at yourself in the mirror each day, though.

I mean if I can fix it with a clip, screw, and nut then it be better then replacing the whole fricken thing. I would make sure its good of course.

Its a 2004 325ci convertable.
I looked at the site and theres nothing that stands out. I mean how is the front bumper area mounted?

I have the exact same thing on the driver's side. Would be interested if someone could list a step by step on how to fix it. Would it involve removing the whole front bumper? Thanks.

Sorry to bring this back up, but I looked and its going to be a bit harder and not as professional as i thought to drill bolt the bumper up. From what I can see though is that i just need to order the platic guide/clip thing that the bumper goes onto. The issue I have is that I cannot find a part number or a place that might have the part.

Has anyone replaced this before? Any help would be awesome.

Guess I am #3. I have the same issue in the same spot. It is the next item on my list of things to do but have not gone in to investigate the bumper yet; just searching for info.

EDIT: Found a Bumper Removal thread: http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum...d.php?t=954644
