DDM Tuning, *unhappy*

I've absolutely had it with their craptastic customer service, and "can't be troubled to care" attitude about correcting their screwups.

Mar. 17, 2009. I called DDM to see about getting a warranty replacement on a 55w Slim Ballast that has recently died on my wifes 740iL. I was given a list of hoops I would have to jump through in order to get a warranty, and it would take ~2wk+ for the whole process. I can't have my wife driving around at dawn, and at night with a headlight out. I elected to skip the RMA, multiple forms, and associated BS and just buy another ballast outright, and pay for expidited shipping.. 2nd day UPS if memory serves.

I was told by Marcus after I got the ballasts swapped out to send in the old one and the money I paid for the replacement would be credited back to me. This seemed a win/win for me, and it kept my wife safe and equipment violation ticket free...

I sent back the ballast and apparently they lost it. I've yet to receive my money back. Where is my $35 DDM?

Jun. 22, 2009. I ordered a pair of DEPO e36 headlights, with laminx, with 55w HID upgrade. I called and asked if they came with the plug and play adapters and I was told yes. I also asked to recieve the full size ballasts in place of the slim ballasts which I dislike, and have had issues with. I had the order shipped my the home of the 95 M3 I was picking up in a few weeks in OREGON so I could drive it home to HOUSTON through the night and not die.

When I flew up to Oregon and went to install the headlights I found the adapters to be missing from the package and crap slim ballasts in place of the full size. I'm now told they no longer make/offer the full size. I was able to install the lights and use the lowbeams only. Highbeams and citylights are disabled as there is no means by which to connect them.

I called and spoke to Girardo (sp?) and Paul on the missing adapters and they said they would ship out a pair for me. Well I just got a call from the previous owner of the M3 to tell me some idiot shipped the adapters to thier house rather than mine. I had told Girardo/Paul NOT to ship them to Oregon as I live 2500miles away from there.

Pauls solution for this problem was to ask the previous owner to just slap some stamps on the box and mail it to me. You're F&^$king kidding right? You want a uninvolved 3rd party to do your job for you?

Jul. 14, 2009. I order a pair of DEPO smoked corners as one of the clear corner tabs snapped when installing the headlights, and it kept falling out on the 2500mile trip home. It also found some way to collect water in the process. When I ordered the new corners I selected SMOKED from the dropdown box, and in the Paypal notes field I wrote SMOKED again as I knew what kind of winners would be filling me order and was hoping SMOKED twice would have been enough.

Wouldn't you know it when they showed up Friday afternoon... clears... idiots. Call them 5mins before they close up that Friday and Girardo tells me to take some photos of what I received and email them back. I do so and don't hear back until mid day Monday. I'm then told I will have to fill out an RMA form, mail them back on my dime, and once received and processed they will ship me back out what I actually ordered. EXCUSE ME?

After talking to Paul and explaining how I did not find that acceptable I was emailed a printable UPS RS tag off their account to return them.. and they still wanted to get them back in their hand before they would send them out. After wasting way too much of my time on the phone talking to people who don't care I got them to ship my new corners out once the return tracking number showed activity.

My smoked corners showed up today. They appear to be correct. Thank you....

My adapters are still not here, and I'm not asking the previous owner to mail them to me, nor am I paying for them to be mailed to me.

My $35 refund on the ballast from 4 months ago is still due to me.

As a result of DDM's multiple failures I will have to buy another temporary tag for my M3 as I will not be able to get it inspected this weekend before the current tag expires. No high beams = fail.

This means $25 for the tag, missed time at work (lost money) and several hours standing in line at the Department of Motor Vehicles. No one likes that combination. That's ~$70 out of my pocket, not to mention the DMV related pain and suffering...

DDM. Refund my $35 "warranty" ballast payment, and send me a GD pair of adapters.

Sorry to hear about your troubles. Although I feel your frustration I have to say DDM is anything but liars or idiots, deal with Bav Auto Recycling and you'll be singing a different tune DDM is a pretty large scale operation now, so stuff like this is bound to happen from time to time, sometimes it takes a thread like this to get the ball rolling unfortunately. Good luck getting the situation rectified.

I should say I have had many good experiences/orders with DDM in the past, but year to date? Nothing but garbage coming out of them....

pretty much any shop in our area will pass you without highbeams.

i know the point of the thread is ddm, who i have had trouble with over small issues as well.. but you can get that inspection done.

Yeah, I have several shops where I can buy the sticker less the inspection as well... but that's hardly the point. Repeated screwups and no concern to getting it correctly in a timely manner is the issue... not the mention the drawn out warranty refund.

No, the 2 purchases were too close together to have problem after problem, Its one large problem that was brought up at the same time and they just can't seem to be able to fix properly.

I simply forgot about the warranty refund as I assumed they would just do it.. and I'm somewhat busy day to day to think about it.

Jordan,

We apologize for your frustrations. Any order changes/modifications will be attached to your original order. . There are no notes on the invoice and none of the sales guys recall any request for an address change.

PM your address and we can send you another set of replacement PnP adapters. As for the returned items for refund. There are no notes on file showing we had received any items. If you can supply a tracking number showing we received the items, then we can process the refund.

No thanks. I already sourced a set of the adapters locally from Certifit who carries a full compliment of DEPO stuff.. they charged me $8 for the pair. You can send a RS tag to the Oregon address to retrieve your property if you see so fit.

I asked you guys to ship them to Houston, and I don't doubt no one wrote it down, doesn't change the fact I paid for something I didn't receive.

The UPS shipment archives at my work only go back 3 months. I have no means to produce a tracking number at this point in time. I know I shipped it out within 2 days of receiving my replacement. I put it back in your box, then put it in another box, a plain brown 4x4x6 cardboard box filled with S shaped Styrofoam peanuts.

You can refund me, or I'm going to file a dispute with Paypal.

FYI: paypal won't be of any help about this matter. it is better to contact your bank or credit card.

No excuse for the craptastic service...but if you don't mind me asking - why not just buy from another vendor after your first bad experience? I understand giving vendors a chance and the whole "straw that broke the camel's back" sorta deal, but I personally would've just gone with another vendor had I had the same frustrations as you.

Your reading skills are lacking sir.

Still no resolution from DDM, and one of the bulbs that I ordered in the headlight/hid kit is now operating at ~50% brightness... Not sure if the bulb or ballast is bad, haven't had a chance to play musical components yet to rule things out.

I also appear to have a $25 credit for the headlight purchase according to Jim here:

Not getting any happier over here.

This is exactly, exactly why I won't order another thing from DDM...only did one time and had a very similar experience, never again...

BTW- Habbie is BavToys, another vendor I've heard bad reviews from.

I wish you the best and hope they get things resolved.

All issues tentatively resolved by Marcus!

He is a pain in the ass to get to the phone, but he actually cares and understands how simple it can be to provide customer support.

Thanks Marcus.

I had the same exact experience with DDM as you had. About a month and a half ago my clear corners were stolen off my e46 by some punk in the neighborhood so I decided to order a pair from DDM and use expedited shipping. It was like 20 bucks for shipping of $25 lights. They listed the package as 3 lbs which was BS but thats irrelevant. When I finally received the package I had been driving for a few days without corner lights and got away with it. When I received the shipment, lo and behold they were clears for a coupe. I immediately called customer service while looking at a printout of my order form and a confirmation email which CLEARLY said I order corners for a sedan. The guy on the phone insisted I had made a mistake and ordered the coupe lights. I insisted otherwise and he looked into it further. He told me that in Quickbooks it showed I ordered the coupe lights, but in some other system they use for the website it showed I ordered the sedan corners. So I figured great, it wasn't my fault so they should send me the correct corners with expedited shipping while I ship the wrong ones back. Atleast that way I would lose some time, but not much. I was wrong. It seems that with DDM if they screw up its still the customers fault. I was told that I would have to ship the wrong ones back and I would be provided a shipping label which was conveniently made out for a package that weighed 1 lb instead of the 3 lbs i payed for when they shipped it to me, and then once they received it they would ship the right ones out with 5 day ground shipping. My car was parked for two and a half weeks without lights and I payed extra for expedited shipping like a jackass. All in all i didn't have lights for 3 weeks. If I had the original ambers I probably wouldn't have been as pissed off. Either way, Thanks DDM, your attention to detail in astounding.

I agree on Habbie, I've had nothing but bad service with him, will not deal with him ever again.

Oh man, that really sucks!

I had one of my Raptor bulbs go to 50% brightness too, I had to order another pair and when they got in I had them swapped out and I shipped out the bad pair to their RMA department (God knows if/when I'll ever get that resolved)

The bulb that was at 50% was black in the center part (the other one was fine), this was only after a months use (and I rarely drive at night so very few hours on them)!
