E39 Speaker Baffles - How to upgrade your speakers

12v Electronics is now offering custom made speaker mounts for E39 BMW's.

These baffles will allow you to install speakers up to 6.75" into your vehicle without any cutting or drilling into the car. They use the stock speaker bracket mounting holes and can be custom made for the speaker of your choice.

    Here are some pictures:

These replace the factory enclosures in the car. Here is a pic with them installed:

This picture is with a Hybrid Audio Technologies Clarus C61-2 speaker mounted. This is a 6.5" driver and no cutting is necessary.

This is how the 6.5" speaker is centered in the factory speaker opening:

Closed cell foam gasket material is included to seal the speaker to the door panel. The following picture is of a 6.75" speaker installed.

This makes installing aftermarket speakers into your car very simple. We can make the mounting hole any size to match your favorite speaker. There are some restrictions on size and depth, but most speakers up to 6.75" will fit in these mounts.

We are offering them for sale for $129.99 custom made to your speakers dimensions. We will ship custom made items in 1-3 days. Since we are offering custom sizes, you will have to contact us with your specifications.

They are also being produced as stock items for the Hybrid Audio Clarus C61-2 component set. They will be in stock and can ship with the speakers installed. (and boy do they sound great!!)

EDIT: This item is now available for purchase at www.12velectronics.com. Here is a link to purchase: E39 speaker mounts at www.12velectronics.com

    Legatia L6

How about making some baffles to fit the Legatia L6, I'll be one of the first to pick a pair up.

The L6's are 7.1" in diameter. They will not fit in these baffles. You would need to modify your door card to mount them.

One option to consider is to use the Clarus 6.5 woofer as shown and substitute a L1 pro tweeter as the Clarus drivers are available seperately.

These would make a great pair and save you the trouble of cutting up your door card.

Those look really nice. I really like the foam piece that is included with them.

It may be a good idea to post this in the E39 section also, as some of those folks may not wander into the audio section very often.

We had these made a while ago, but needed a volunteer E39 to do some real good test fitting. These really do fit great and seal well to the door.

There is very little "wiggle room" when installing a 6.5" driver. It took some time to get them just right to get them to fit without any cutting or modification to the car.

I will mention that this car ROCKS with the Clarus 6.5's in them and a decent amp. They have more bottom end than the factory sub that was in this car.

They look good Tom. What kind of depth can you squeeze in there?

Think 4" is possible? I want to try these guys:

Sorry for the "super-late" response, but there is no way those will fit behind the factory door card with these bafflles.

We do have E46 adaptors to mount 5.25" speakers in the factory locations. Is that what you are looking for?

I have 6.5" speakers...but I need something like in the original post to give the speaker an enclosure instead of mounting it to the plastic door panel in a free-air setup...Do you have something like this?

Sorry, No. The E46 door is sealed pretty well between the door card and vapor barrier. I would recommend sealing the speaker to the door card as good as possible and possibly deadening the back side of the door card.

We can make the baffles for your Morels also. But if you can go 6.5's I would recommend it. All the cool kids are doing it.

    E39 wagon. FZ1.
Sent you an email, definitely interested.

Do these change the max mounting depth? I have read that normal mounting depth with the stock baffle is around 2.3 inches.

    thx-zd

These do no thave backs on them, so depth is controlled by the door glass. There is much more depth than stock.

I did not see an email. Please PM me to make sure it gets through.

And a fair price. I ended up making some and spent about 3 times as long as I had planned... And it isnt my first time modifying stock locations with MDF...

But I got some TS-C720PRS mids in there!
