well i just got my motor in yesterday and have been test fitting everything, pulling stuff off thats in the way and what not. if i know how i am gonna try to post a few pics up of what it looks like so far. the fitment is tight but looks really good.
this is a temporary motor mount i made using some 1 1/2" pipe couplers and caps. grinded the angle out i needed, drilled a 3/8" hole through both sides and ran a 6" bolt through. works really good and because it is threaded the height is adjustable so i can get the motor set level and perfect.

im going to try and keep up with pictures of everything i do so i can show the progression... i am truly amazed at the fitment of this motor and how its going to only need small amounts of modification to fit into this car. i am modifying the steering rack to make it manual so i can dedicate the power steering pump to the hydroboost im gonna use to run the breaks. thats the plan so we will see how it all works out.
nice... i cant wait to see more progress on this... do you have any plans for the motor.
nice job!...subscribing
what did you use for the engine mounts? and is it a jdm engine?
I plan on starting this swap in my 5 series.... glad to see a local doing this
no plans as of yet, just want to get it in and running right now... i see it going single turbo in the future.
i made temporary motor mounts using a 1 1/2" inch threaded coupler from a plumbing pipe with a threaded square headed plug on each end. i cut the angles needed on the mounts and drilled a hole through both ends. i put the mount in its place and used a 6" long bolt to go through. i did this as a temporary mount to get everything straight so i can move on to getting the car running. since i used threaded fittings i could adjust the height as needed.

a video after it's up and running
man looks good
single turbo for sure!
good luck with the build. cant wait to see it done!
motor mounts are WIN
“This is not ‘Nam. This is bowling. There are rules.”
just a few pics of my most recent work, i got a hydro break booster from a 5 series and because of the width of the motor there was no way to mount it in the original location... so here is what i thought of... it actually works quite nicely.

um, do you seriously have that pos rod activating your brakes? PM massive lee on here or r3vlimited, hes an expert, and wont charge you for advice, especially when it means saving your/other people's lives
remember... All this is just mach up.. Nothing is in perminent yet! I'm just getting fitment and making sure things work. The rod is giving me length, clearence and location hole on the plate that I made for the fire wall. The rod is going to get replaced with a thicker stronger rod once I get my hands on a welder. But by having that already done I know what my bends are and what my length needs to be. I was simply posting pics to show the new location of my break booster and what kind I will be using. I am open to other suggestions to how this should be done though, this is just the concept I came up with.
Oh I meant to ask you what transmission are you using?
The 5 speed that came with the motor. I will get the specs for you when I know for sure what it is. I believe it's the same tranny that came in the old usdm supras with the 7mgte motor but I'm probably wrong.
Alright I think that's the W58
don't hold me too it though, I'll talk to my boy who knows more about the motor than I do, he will know for sure.
I'm not off Friday though... But you are more than welcome to stop by when I get off work. By the way, do we know each other?
damn bel air kids. I get a s52 swap done and everyone goes turbo![]()
any updates?
Sorry, it's been a while. Updates are... I have lagit motor mounts and a tranny mount now, motor just got pulled last night so I could replace the waterpump and timing belt before my friend gets started on the wireing. Salvos sold my the wrong waterpump so I have to take that back and get the right one. Once that is done the motor gies back in the car for good and the wiring gets started. I've been busy with work so I haven't been on top of this project as much as I would have hope but it should still be complete by the end of this month. I have figured out most of the problems with this swap, the last big obstical is the trans, the shifter doesn't lime up with the hole in the car. I'm either gonna have to make new brackets to shorten it up of I am gonna have to see if a different piece off another Toyota tranny will work.
i actually found a guy who makes engine and tranny mounts for a 1jz conversion into this car so i was able to just order them instead of having them custom made which is pretty nice. it cost 350.00 shipped and they are no the prettiest things in the world but they will definitely get the job done. im waiting on the right water pump to come in. the last one i ordered was not right. so when that comes in i will be putting that on and getting this thing running hopefully. for now i am going to just use the diff that is in the car but will eventually be upgrading, not sure what im gonna use yet. not to familiar with bmw so i guess i have to research which will work and which one will be the best to use.
