    E36 M-Technic

    I am intrigued by these, does anyone have any specs/pictures?

    I know that 150 were produced, but thats about it

    I believe they were made to see how the M3 would sell.

    Just about everything but the engine was M3 IIRC

    BMW made then as a pre-courser/feeler for bringing the M3 to the U.S.

    They were modified 325is made in 1993/1994, and were all Alipine White III. They featured:

    -M3 front spoiler
    -M3 Sport side skirts
    -M3 rear valence, M3 Mirrors
    -BMWMotorsport door handles
    -BMWMotorsport Tri-Color Hurricane interior and door panels cloth w/ suede
    -M tri-color stiched steering wheel
    -M logo shift knob
    -heated seats
    -200 watt premium sound system
    -Optional 17" 2 piece BBS Motorsport wheels, a limited slip differential, M3 rear spoiler and stainless steel exhaust tips.

    Essentially, aesthetically identical to the later E36 M3 w/o the S50/S52. I believe the M-Technic E36 also had modified suspension (stiffer springs, performance shocks), but I could be wrong on that...

    However, there's not a registry (unlike the CSL LTW), so it's hard to estimate.

    Sorry to thread jack but I have a question. Is that the battery on that car under the hood on the passenger side? If so, how come mine is in the trunk on my 325is?

    As to why the batteries are in the trunk? iono?
    more engine room?
    better weight distribution?
    no nasty white stuff build up to look at?

    I think it is just an empty space where you are seeing the exposed firewall look like a shape.

    You can talk to user Disco Technix as he has one or had one. Its worth noting, that the M-Technic featured suspension more related to the e36 m3 than the lesser counterparts. The geometry is quite different when compared to a stock 325i/325i sport. I think it actually bumps it up a class if your considering tracking the vehicle.
