1979 320/6 Baur $2000 dollars in November 1987, they were asking for $3500 but were leaving Germany in a few days and took my offer. I believe the car had 35000 Km at the time.
1981 323i Baur $1750 last December.
Both cars had/have Recaros.
I like the fact that your poll caps out at $1900.
That way us suckers who paid WAY over that amount do not have to be fully ashamed of disclosing just how much we overpaid!!
I like that 0-100 currently has the most responses
With my vote the "way too much" category take the lead !
Yeah !
i overpaid for a not running 1981 stock 320i. $1350
I am definitely in the last category. Paid $2500 because it was the only rust free e21 I found for sale in my area. Since then, much much more.
The poll should ask how much we have sunk into our e21's since we got them. Starting price is nothing. How much do they get you for in the end is the real question...
payed $300AUS for mine
owes me bout $17,500 now

......... 3.8L V6 + T04Z + 15psi + e85 = 500rwhp - 10sec 1/4 mile - Hopefully .........
i payed for my orange bmw a little close to 5 gran about 3 years ago..
zippedy doo dah! zero zilch
The nice one, we gave my Dad $1000.00 for it in about 1999 (he bought a new fuel pump - long story). The White one - got for $375.00 in about 2003, drove it for three years before donoring it for the nice one. Both are '78s, CA.

Using $100 increments in the poll is just ridiculous. It should be at least $500. Tons of e21's are worth more than $1900.
yea, i could have done it differently. but ahem, yes tons maybe, but it's not the majority that sell for 1900+ according to this data.
lot of regrets on how i could have put this together, but it's definitely cool to see.
It looks like the same amount got theirs for near free, as bought one for 1900+ and most people paid between 600-1500.
my guess would be that the 1900+ ones were all dependent on paintjobs/body condition. and that the near free ones were almost all non-runners/no smoggers - or some other serious issue.
I hope more people vote so we can see if there are any changes

got mine on the bay for 1100, as you see it 4 years ago. The only things I have done is cleaned it, tuned it up, and had it appraised for insurance. (Although this year I'm going to upgrade the carb.) $@"$!? Solex

I don't quite know how to answer this.
I acctually paid $800 for the car, but it needed seats, like it literally did not have seats. So I paid $200 or $300 for almost new Corbeaus. That's why my vote is for about $1100.
I also redid my hood ($100), but that probably counts for sinking money into the car...
i paid $2700cdn when it was equal to the american dollar. but now its worth about just under $5000

i paid 250 for mine but the inflation adjuster says it cost 243.19 or something if i had to buy it today.
No e30s again.
Back in '99, I bidded on my 323i amongst 20 others around the USA for it, placed $5800 on it to be sure I'd win it. Auction ended @ $4750 ($6082 in 2008 yr).
That $4.75k car's given me 10yrs of no troubles whatsoever. Stone dead reliable daily driver to this day! Kjet &, A/C still runs, sunroof still cranks open, passes inspection on 1st pass every yr since I've owned it.
btw... about 5 yrs ago, it had gotten rear ended, not hard, but the rr valence was pushed in, and the rr euro bumper center portion needed to be replaced. The rt fender did get a slight crease right behind the wheel well, but not a thing wrong with the wheels not aligning nor riding straight as before. IN all, it was just cosmetic issues that the car suffered, no frame damage whatsoever, but nevertheless, I got so sick from this incident that I put the 323 up f/s on this site, iirc, and all I was asking for it was $2200 and fully disclosed the body damage. I got soooooooo many tire kickers, but it was this one dork w/ no life outside of his BMW sphere, from Florida, asking me to explain the condition of every little stupid facet of the car to the point that I pulled the car off the market. Seriously, I must have answered 50 emails from that jackass, and he wore my nerves down to the bone. Wasn't worth it to me to put up with all that aggravation. Boy, I can't tell you how much of a blessing in disguise this turned out. What was I thinking ????

The car was free, a gift my wife arranged to be dropped in my garage.
What I have dumped into it over the last several years is in the low 5-figure range. I don't keep detailed track, it hurts less that way.
