1991 - 1999 (E36) (1991 - 1999) The first modern 3 Series, the E36, was the model that paved the way for the 3 Series to be named "Car of the Year" every year since the model was driving off showroom floors. Radically redesigned in 1992, the E36 was not the same 3 Series as the E21 and E30. Larger, less boxy in design, and equipped with a dual overhead cam engine, multilink rear suspension, and a more finished interior, the E36 balances sport with luxury.

I race some on Mullholland Drive all of the time, I usually park at the end, get out my fold up chair and sit and wait for them to finally catch up. So, don't bother with a 1/4 mile when you can just embarass the crap out of them over about 12 miles.

I agree: too many variables.

(I've owned a '88 5.0 ) If I drove both cars, the Mustang would win.

"PROPAGANDA?" Sorry Gomer. Didn't mean to confuse you with reality. I just must have missed all those Pro Street e36's at the Nationals......Just a thought. Maybe they would go faster if the Hillbilies didn't put Confederate flags on them?

I've only owned a 328is but I assume that would be faster than a 325 vert. My old 5.0 was faster in a straight line than my 328 (both stock) but that's the only place the mustang would win. Corners, breaking or anything else the 328 would clean up

I kill all of the V6 mustangs I've run up against so far, even with my auto.

They stay up with me until I hit about 3K rpm, then my cars pulls away like I have a V8. Some mods, usually exhaust and CAI have a little more staying power, but always pull away. I not raced one that has a turbo, pretty sure THAT would stomp my ass good.

are you sure your not racing V6's? The cars weigh about the same and my '87 5.0 came with 25 more horsepower and almost 100 lb.ft more torque than my 96 328. With the same driver a 328 won't have a chance.

There's no way that any 5.0 stang will ever run 12's with some basic bolt ons. Maybe after a heads/cam package.

Dude everyone knows 5.0s or dsms are the easiest cars to get to go fast cheap they respond really well to bolt ons. high 12s are possible.

If I wanted a drag car I would probably get a 5.0. Cheap, plentiful, and for the most part pretty reliable.

The ls1 camaros, t/a and formulas are dropping in prices high 13s in stock trim. Here in the midwest the fox body mustangs are starting to become a little rare- at least in decent "buildable" condition. Most I've seen have bad/rusted strut towers and beat torque boxes.

When the Fox bodies were newish (early 90s) some racers where able to dip into the 12s albiet 12.9s They ran a short belt, 410s, removed front sways, iced intake and so forth. That was with the right condtions too.

On a 5 spd fox, with lowermiles, you could easily dip into the 13s with just a k&n and a set of 373s.
