Don't worry OP i understand when people get unexpected outcomes, I've had similar experiences with G35's. 3 to be exact. For ex last race we started in 4th at 85 and we went all the way till i hit redline and was dead even with the G the whole way. This is in my 95 325. I didnt understand either, as the G's are supposed to always destroy me but that hasnt happened yet.

1 word, gearing.

As mentioned, 335i sucks in fourth gear, and a crappy car like, at random selection, an rx8 might have a strong 4th gear, and if the race started from that, and the rx8 wins, is the rx8 faster???

Edit: not saying this is true information nor comparing these two cars, i was just giving an example

So basically you're saying that your car has about the same 0-60 as my car? I rape the living hell out of my friend's 330ci on a daily basis. ok buddy... Step back, collect your thoughts and try again. Thanks
I'm not really trying to get into an online arguement, but once again, had you payed attention before responding you may have noticed i said "multiple" online stopwatches, i tried "multiple" to get a statistically significant estimate because I understand the fact that an online stopwatch might not be calibrated correctly. But using 3 or 4 different ones should produce some sort of a reasonable data set.

As for you next bit of drivel, I do believe I blatenly posted saying I got blown out and was immediately down TWO CAR LENGTHS!!!!!! Maybe you misundertood because I said, "after that we were even and that is where it stayed". By that I meant he stayed TWO CAR LENGTHS ahead of me, while I was doing all I could to not fall further behind he could have very well have been letting off full throttle by that point. The whole thing lasted about 8 seconds probably, but i'm not sure I haven't broken out my online stopwatchs yet.....haha

I came here to write about getting beat by an obviously faster newer car. Not argue with someone who thinks I am claiming to have a 330 thats as fast as car with 100 more HP than mine.

Do some people get boners for this shit? Argueing that is?

another case of not reading the post carefully, i dont recall ever saying i was as fast as this guy's car, without repeating myself, just read my response to dub2shoe right above.....and i'm not trying to argue with you either, i just can't understand how my story has been so misconstrued, i openly admitted to getting my clocked cleaned

Sounds reasonable to me. 8 secs of racing would place you at less than 1/8th mile. The real beating would've came after that. 2 carlength from the get go could be lousy reaction or the fact that Z has better 60'. As speed increases the Z should pull away from you more and more.

Yep. I dont think either reaction was that bad, he really just took off quick, i think had there not been traffic you are right it coulda gotten much uglier, but we had to slow it down then he turned off, which is a shame because there was open highway not far ahead

Well this is kinda foreplay. I get myself worked up on here, then go to e46fanatics. That's when things get serious. After that, i pull up 060calculator.com and that's when I have to bust out the Kleenex.

You said your car is "a freak" of a 330ci and is so fast that you can't explain it. Everything you said was complete fanboy propaganda. Now you're just trying to backtrack and justify the retarded claims you made. Foot enter mouth.

btw. plz edit your sig. thanks

san diego sucks and is only for old people and stoners

I don't really ever recall referring to my car as "a freak" of a 330ci. Maybe you could point me in the direction where I said that though.

I never made any retarded claims. The two claims I made were

1) I lost to a 370z

2) I have a 330 that SEEMS to go to 60 quicker than BMW claims. Which wasn't even claimed here in this thread, but i'm going to claim it in this thread now. Is it stock or has something been done to it that I am unaware of by a previous owner? I'm not sure, but I assume it to be stock. I have done my best to provide videographic evidence of this.

You don't even need a timing device to notice its faster than 6.1 seconds tested by car and driver. And feel free to correct me, but was the time quoted by BMW for 330s 6.4 seconds? We all know they over estimate there times though.

THis is getting WAY out of hand though, Again I didn't start this thread to debate my cars 0-60 times, maybe its my fault for having a link to those videos in my sig, which i have now edited btw

#1 That car does exhibit good acceleration, the only thing I can say is maybe it's slightly downhill to achieve it?

#2 335 gearing is very similar to e46m3s so I wouldn't consider any of the gears poor

#3 small 335i turbos limit the power to be made past 6000rpms, before that though they do quite well

#4 335i at just did 11.7/11.8 at 120 mph with a tune, race gas, and radials....turbo melter map

Unfortunately, BMW speedometers are a little optimistic. It is possible that you just did a 0-55 or a 0-56. I think the easiest way to solve the problem would be to take it to the dyno or go to the track.

Not to be an ass because I really don't care, but the youTube "ultramatic video time keeper 3000" ticked off 7 seconds before you hit 60...

Hay guys, my 328i does 0-60 in 4.5s. I timed it all by myself ^^

OP voted as conceited.

has your 318i kept up with any M3's lately?

well in the video the speedo started moving at the 4th second and hit 60 right around the 10th second to 11th second. I'd say its around 6.1-6.4 0-60 based upon the video evidence.

you guys are probably right, but i am almost certain in that video the car doen't move until just about halfway between 4 and 5 (at worst after 4) and hits 60 right at 10, but i'm done argueing over it, i'm content with the car whether it be 5.5, 6.5 or even 7 seconds as one of you suggested

on a second thought though, where could i go and have it timed profesionally? and how much money does that cost? I don't think there are any drag strips around my area....i didnt know a dyno could meausure 0-60s, how does that work?

response to 1) east coast NC (all the way on the coast), there are small hills but this road was flat, but i imagine even small hills not noticeable to the eye could contribute

1/4-1/8 mile...cost you maybe 40 bucks. Find a local track. Dyno's dont' prove anything. I've already put multiple lengths on "650hp EVO's and 705hp RX7's 50-130. The guys in the 700whp RX7 even had a dyno sheet...obviously, a fake. Said he needs to get it "retuned". When I asked who did his tuning he pointed to the passenger. Complete with laptop!!! The guy with the EVO was so friggin' embarrassed he got off an exit early and I've never seen him again. LOL!!

i just learned that i phone has an app that makes use of the i phone's accelerometer (sp?) and apparently pretty accurately (to within .08 seconds) times 0-60, 1/4 mile, and even lateral G's I think.

http://videos.streetfire.net/video/i...deo_174587.htm

Anyway, to all who think I'm am full of it, expect the data soon...

and if i am in fact full of it and the app returns 6 or 7 sec times, I will admit I was wrong.

Don't worry about checking the thread, I'll email results to the few who have really doubted me.......how this arose out of me openly admitting to losing to a 370z i'm not sure, but i guess thats what happens in "kill stories"

I'm sorry but if you look at the ops video and use any timer whether it be on a phone or anything and start when the needle moves and stop at 60 he is right on the money for 5.5 seconds. Whether its stock or just a freak idk but the 5.5 is very close for his speedo. A good way to test how accurate the speedo is would be to use a gps. They usually have your current speed and if you keep it constant the gps will be exact.

You can perhaps measure your speed in the video by checking the tachometer at 60mph. Speed is a mechanical function of wheel/tire diameter and gear ratios, so at a certain RPM in a certain gear with a certain wheel/tire diameter, you will be at a certain speed, despite what the speedo says.

Not sure how accurate that is, but if you're bored it's worth a try.

I'd do it for you, but apparently you took the videos down...

Nice effort. The only fast Z's around here are the twin turbo 350Z setups but I guess it won't be long before some of the 370's show up heavily boosted too.

wow thank you some one is reasonable around here......i was never trying to bragg, yes i was proud of my "estimated" times, but that wasn't even the orginal topic of the thread, only a result of having a link to my videos in my signature.....

they are still there, i just took out the claim of "5.5 seconds", the link should be there though in my signature still

Def is another way to look at it. However, tach's are by no means 100% accurate, so it still won't be a perfect equation.

I've heard of the iphone app accelerometer, it actually seems pretty sick. But again, it's more of a novelty, such as the 0-60 calcs, than a concrete and precise data logger for performance figures. Honestly, just go to a strip. Of course they aren't going to get you the 0-60 time you're looking for, but you'll get the absolute most accurate measurement of your car's straight line performance.

The app won't get you close to track times unless everything is perfect...

I went 13.19 @ 108.59mph on a 2.1 60ft last time at the track... since then I have added 1LE Springs, got new tires and did the free ram air mod.

On the Iphone I got 12.99 @ 114.57mph on a 2.3 60ft...

Goto a track at least that way you have solid numbers and you can run some basic math from there to get a good 0-60.
