Seriously . . . you da man. You've got to have a lot of skills working on cars to take on something like that. My skill make doing a suspesion upgrade a challenge.

    well done!

    how long it take you?

how's the end result? keep us updated

Nice work. I hate doing auto to manual swaps, primarily because of the pedal install (pedal installs on almost any car for a conversion sucks). Other than that, working on a transmission, and anything else in a car, is simply a matter of knowing how to put it all back together. For those with a manual already, you can follow some of this for a clutch install, which is not as hard as many think it would be. You just gotta give yourself time.

Oh, dangit all, you just introduced me to another problem I might experience -- the fifth gear issue. Fortunately has not happened yet, and fortunately I don't live where it's cold.

Good job on the install though. Good diy.

Maybe I missed it but, any reason you went with 5spd. versus 6 spd?

    Nice writeup BTW!

Thanks! Wish I could say the transmission repair was easy but it was not at all. The online DIYs and the BMW SIB made it look like a 20 min job but noooo. It ended taking grant and I about 2 hours of work to just change the shift pins. Had to go to AutoZone and rent a slide hammer. Which reminds me, I need to return that soon

I try! I hope you are talking about Grant, because I only know how it's done. I just sat there and told Grant what to do. He's the pro mechanic
I guess I'll need to ask Grant if he wants to 'hang out' sometime
