Hey everyone...Ive been looking though this site and other BMW forums for some time now and finally found me an e39. I was looking for an e39 for about 3 months now. I was hoping to find a 540i but all of the local ones for sale were ragged out and or had too many miles.
So one day I was on my way home and saw a nice e39 at a local dealer. I made a quick u-turn and checked it out. I talked to a sales guy and asked could I take it for a test drive, took it and it drove great. Came back to talk a little about the BMW. He said it was a one owner car just traded in, its has all service records and had 70k miles. That all sounded GREAT to me!! He even gave me previous owners number (which the previous owner said to) and I even talked to him for a bit about it, he bought a new 5 series. It turns out he lives about 15 mins from me.
They were asking $10.9 + TTL, I offered $10K out the door, he said no played the typical sales game. I said this is my final offer, $10.5 cash in hand and that is inc. TTL, he pretended to talk to his manager came about 15 sec. later and said deal. I said let me run to my bank I'll be right back, came back smacked the cash down & signed a few papers. Within 20 mins I was out the door with a grin from ear to ear crusin in my 530!!
I couldnt be happier. It drives so smooth, the transmission is smooth as butter, I cant even tell its shifting through the gears. My wife has a MDX and she said thats not fair, she wants the e39 and is telling me to drive the X...hahahah
I wanted to just post some pictures for yall, its all stock and if youve seen one stock e39 youve seen them all. My daughter LOVES it, she says she wants a purple Bimmer when she is old enough to drive...she just turned 3 last week. Shes already thinking big, my first car was a '80 something chevette and I though I was the coolest guy in high school.
Anyway looking forward to hanging out here and learning alot, and DONT worry I know how the search button works.

thanks everyone for the comments and compliments!!
I couldnt be happier w/ my new BMW!!
About the tint, no the tints not that dark at night, but Im use to it though. I always tint my cars / trucks 5%. Its not as dark as you think, its dark from the outside looking in but from the inside looking out its not as dark as it looks.
I was thinking about maybe 20% but I like it dark, to me nothing looks better than a black car w/ dark tint.
I was trying to figure out my color code, I looked in the drivers side door jam but dont see any code. From browsing around I think its cosmos black...its black but has a metallic shade to it when the sunlight hits the paint, it almost looks like a dark charcoal but when no light hits it, it looks straight black.
Anyway thanks again everyone for the replies!!
Nice find. Looks sharp. I have a 2001 530 in cosmos as well with sand interior. I love it and you can't beat cosmos in my opinion. Good luck with the new ride.

Congrats, looks great. I bought one is late 07, Titanium Sport 5 speed. Have had some adventures with the FSU and the ABS controller -- click on my blog link if/when you need more info.
70K -- has the cooling system been replaced? That should be one of your first projects if not.
Enjoy the car. I'm in Alexandria -- maybe see you on the road.

Welcome to the E39 club... I'm in Fairfax, VA.
Looks great - best of luck with it.
How did you do the grills, EXACTLY how?
I'm gonna do mine - No need to buy em right?
Thanks!
Thanks!!
About the grill, no just use your factory grill, no need to spend more money for a aftermarket part.
This is how I did mine... I sanded the chrome down, cleaned it off, I took some flat black high temp spray paint, I sprayed 3-4 light coats. Then I took some spray plasti-dip and put on 3-4 light/med coats. Ive used plasti-dip in the past and it holds up very well.
Good luck, it took less than 2 hrs. from removing to painting to putting back on. Its funny how blacking out a little chrome trim can make the front end look even better.
Good info - Where can I get the plasti-dip?
Is there a certain brand?
thx!
Joey
PS - does the car have the latch tethers behind the head rests to hook up the toddler seat? I've noticed onlt the 2001 and up come with em - in the 740i...
Ive had my plasti-dip for about 4 years...its old, I ordered it off of the internet. The brand is plasti-dip, they have it in the can to dip tool handles in and the spray can, just look for the spray can.
Found this for you, if you have a Ace Hardware: http://www.acehardwaresuperstore.com...s=plasti%20dip
Yes the seats do have the latches behind each of the 3 headrests, makes it really easy but sometimes it a little hard to release my daughters car seat clip from the latch just because its so tight but if youre using the middle latch its a piece of cake.
Good luck!!
Good info! - much appreciated - All the best with the 530.
Awesome 530! Pics of puddle lights soon pleaaaaaaaaase
nice car.
the color code is on the inside of the hood, on the passenger side.
