i am officially confirming im coming. Anyone want to caravan from the Des Plaines/Schaumburg area? BTW Should i bring my own food since im vegetarian or wtf should i do? are there any restaurants or something around there?

Let me know if you want to see it again. I am prepared to help motivate you to get your 5 running with an S52. That will be awesome. It was hard for me to walk into the garage for the last 2 months to see my 540 up on jackstands... with the front and rear frames out, exhaust dropped, driveshaft out... intake and VC's off... I feel some of your pain. I know I can't get it all... but for what it's worth (in a somewhat inverse way) when I had a Tempo back in high school I threw a rod out of the block in that while doing 60mph on hwy 30. Weird coincidence? Got a new motor in it, and 2 months later totalled it in a head on collision. That was kinda rough, since I was stuck in Muncie then.

There will be plenty of 5's on May 2nd. Bring your camera!!

Hm, also, if there is anyone in the area who likes polishing, I could use a lesson and the use of a PC random orbital. Help would be rewarded!

haha- the tempo feels like it is going to come apart at 75 mph. That is why I miss my car the most- nothing handles at speed like an e39.

...and that tempo is a cop magnet- I have to get rid of this thing pronto. got a damn ticket today for passing on the right while driving home from work. So much for 0 points on my license lol.

Went for a ride along in a 540i compliments of Chris today- love the smooth torque of that 4.4 liter.

I really wish I could come along, but May 2 is too close to graduation time/finals (IUB senior). I'll make it to the next meet. My home is around lake street beach (miller area of gary), but I go to school in bloomington. Have a great time.

Thanks for the diagnosis. I am going to snag them there bushin's asap and figure out how to change them. I obviously have to agree with the torque statement... lol. But it sounds like I need to ride in a i6 sometime to get a feel for what the rest of the e39s are like!

As for the meet...

Lots of cars. If we do a drive, it is going to have to take into account the number of vehicles. Holy crap!

How far do people want to go if we do a drive? Last year was kind of short, but we hit the nicest corners I knew of... and that one train... but we didn't have quite this many attendees. I think there are too many stops on that route. If someone wants to get those 90 degree corners in, let me know and I can try to incorporate them.

So, how far, and how long, do people want to cruise? We will stay clear of the Merrillville area and their mall cops.

I believe that was last May's meet.. (the COOOLD one )
Last August the fire burned w/o incident.

guys- lets not get word out the meet will be too large. you have to factor in no-shows. there is enough parking for at least 60 cars at that shelter- not all of us are going to be at the shelter at once anyways.
