E39 restore entire suspention on 80K miles - second part

    So ...
This is second part of our story
Below parts which i replaced - i am not hurry so i did it in last 2 month , step by step

    much better but nor perfect
upgrated engine mounts - way no more engine vibration - cool
    still not perfect
new front tires - way way but still ...
    finally come to TRANSMISSION MOUNTS
    THIS IS THE BAD GUY
***** Upper -original from my car - see how bad the left one
***** Down - new from dealer installed today
I replaced shaft drive 2 month ago but have no idea that
my transmissiong mounts so bad too !

and what is more important :
no more steering / under seats vibration on 70/75 MPH

I was simple lucky that I did it - first time when I checked them I didnt find and problem with them and only when I took them out I recognized how bad they are

But what is strange - I didnt find any place
( and I did a lot of investigation ) where somebody had the same problem ... My car has only 85K miles - how they can be so bad ?
    Anybody who replaced them ?

Any comments folks ?? Looks like all left for replacement ...
I guess in next 2-3 weeks dealer will sell 100-200 sets of these mounts
    hahaha

First I bought Cartego from Autohouze .After looking carefully I found out that one was defected
So I sent them back and bought original from dealer - they are one to one same to my old . They are 15$ expensive each but they are really good ( with oil ) and I like to seat on them now .

If you are not sure go to dealer and don't spend money on this aftermarket junk

Bildar - and how do you feel now ? for me it helped a lot

My question is do I need readjust my shaft drive now ?
Some advise ?? My front/seat vibration is gone but I still feel some slight pushing in the back ... on rear suspension I replaced only ball joints and stabilizers and steel have rear upper/low arms original
Or maybe its simple roads ...

Nice work, I plan to have all the parts you listed above replaced by the summer.

Can you do me a favour? If you still have the OEM upper control arms (longer arm with bend), could you cut open the bushing to see if it is fluid-filled? I'm 95% sure the straight-6 E39 upper control arm bushings are not fluid-filled.

    Steek BMW :
As i was new to BMW problems i spent ~5K including
new tires which are not installed yet
all new struts / mounts around
    all new arms/tie rods/stabilizers
new shaft drive / steering rack
    all new engine/transmission/shaft drive mounts
The only original part which i didnt replace - 2 lower/upper Rear arms
But If i was doing it again i think i can manage it in less money ... something around 1,5-2K ( DIY )
Even i paid for labor after all i should readjust central shaft drive mount / front arms on the ground - so better to do it yourself from beginning
or do it by BMW dealer but they usually 3 times more expensive
    rpg :
No my was not filled with oil .
The only parts which i found filled with oil ( again this is what i found ) was :
    Rear bell joints
    Engine mounts

They are fluid-filled for the I6. You can see the oil stains on the bottom of the control arm in the pics. I actually took apart a new oem bushing (oil all over my work table) in the pics since I was installing Powerflex anyway.

Thanks Michel for the pics, and for clarification.

Like champaign777, I suspected they were completely rubber, indicating that neither of our bushings actually tore and released fluid.

    Thanks again,
    Richard

I dig the hockey puck spacer between the jack and the engine jacking point!

Plus, I really don't believe you have coil-overs!
    Oh, wait, that's me...
    Doh!
    LOL!

Looking for an E39 belly pan , passenger front inner fender liner …

It finally occurred to me that you were leaving your suspension alone until hunting season was over since you needed the extra clearance. Damn, Jason, you are really gonna be set when those coilovers are installed considering the flexibility you will have with the height adjustment during hunting season. My advice is to get that peel away camo all over your car so you won't spook the deer! And I thought I was the only redneck that goes hunting with his E39.

Michel , are you happy with your Powerflex bushing ??
I have feeling that better than OEM can be only OEM
