    Dave's E36 LS3 Project

my project has now gotten underway

E36 M3 1994, completely stripped out interior, full respray (orange) full cage (CAMS compliant), recaro's (being fitted as I report), coil overs, AP racing rotors, diff cooler, stainless braided everything

We have also removed anything that does not add power, or conversely if it does not contribute to speed - delete.

Therefore aircon is gone, power windows gone, carpets gone, all lining gone, airbags gone, all engine anciliaries that once were driven off the engine belt are now electrical. The list goes on and on.

We are now fabricating engine mounts for brand new LS3 (head/cams/airflow -dynoed at 580hp at crank) with new T56.

Full rewiring of entire car is then next with latest race technology Windows based Milspec gear (released in beta form in December for race industry). Car will be managed by Motec with full dispay.

Might start a new thread for this car and start posting some photos.

Could have done a conversion into a myriad of other cars, but the thought of hearly 600hp into 1,150kg body with nice balance and top notch engineering was too much.

The boys in the shop are working on all sorts of cars, from BB Chevy pickups, to Carbon Bodied Lotus', custom Commodores, rally Evo's, etc, etc, this is the car they really love the most.........

    best for now

    Dave

if you go onto youtube and search

    'dave's ls3'

you will see the engine on the dyno

maybe if someone clever out there could put it onto the thread it would add some spice to the forum

    update;

the car is now on a hoist in the workshop, having spent a lifetime waiting for something to happen in a corner of the shop

engine mounts have been fabricated and are now in place

work has started on the exhaust system. It is a full custom job from manifold to tailpipe. Will be operating what is known in Australia as a gonzo exhaust. These are used in the national V8 supercars and come from a specialist supplier. The rear resonator is the special bit, it's design is such that it actually sucks gas from the whole system and so actually assists in making power.

The intake manifold from FAST arrived this week. It is a completely new item just developed and I think it is 102mm in diameter. It also makes power.

A whole lot of trick engine dress-up bits are on their way too.

After the exhaust, the whole electrical system is being created from scratch. It will be the newest system that has been just developed for the racing industry and released at SEMA last year. Based on modules with everything the car does controlled by a single box. It is windows based and to milspec levels.

While the eletricals are being done the drivetrain is getting the going over. Custom tailshaft, etc, etc.

I hoped under the car whilst it was on the hoist on Saturday and saw the state of the car underside for the first time. The guy who started this project was very anal......everything on the underside is brand new. It looks brilliant.

So I know you want photos, so I will get them done this week and submit.

    All the best for now

    Dave

That oilpan is scary low. Interested to hear how the electric water pump performs on the track.
