Sirius for 2009 135i

What are the after market options for installing Sirius Sat radio? Is the BMW radio the only option for this? Seems really expensive for something that should be about $100.
I'm not interested in having something stuck to the dash or window and don't need to see wires. I'm only looking for a sat radio that will plug into the stock system.
Thanks!

Unfortunately the only option for Sirius radio is the factory BMW piece, which is only available from the dealer.

The cost is comprised of not only of the module itself, but the antenna, the physical labor, and the programming of the vehicle's bus system to allow it to recognize the module.

You may be able to get a slight discount on the module from certain dealerships if you belong to the BMWCCA, but labor and programming costs likely won't be discounted.

It's the cost of having full integration. Most don't have a problem with it.

If you have 6FL/AUX, you can use a portable unit but will not have features like text display or steering wheel control.

I was hoping to do the work myself, but I can't find a site that sells the sirius model for the one series.

Even if you did the install yourself, you would have to take it to the dealer to have it programmed.

Not true on the 1-series, the modules are self activating.

hopefully, this is the case for future models down the road.

software retrofit is still required. not so much that they are self activating but that the unit are at somewhat of a current software level and will respond.
