so, we have all seen the pictures of torn up trunk floors and the horror stories of clunks and carnage. but what do you look for in your car? how do you know when its coming before it gets horrible?
well here is what it looks like when it starts. Thanks to Randy i have started a preemptive strike on it, while i save for the kit. While i can weld i am probably not the best at it since i was never taught i just kinda started welding.
anyway here you go. . .
This first picture shows a spot weld that has popped through.
As you can see in this pic tic tac toe 3 in a row.
this is the beginning of separation of the trunk floor and the driver side frame rail.
A little bit of fix action going on. per Randy i was to lift the subframe to allow the spot welds to go back to where they should have been. then i was to re weld them i also welded the cracks that had formed form the trunk floor and the frame rail.
Cleaned up and temp painted until i can get the proper kit to install in my car from randy forbes.

2K, you rock. I am proud of you because you will try to do anything. You also end up doing a great job. I bet this holds for a long time. We will test it out this sunday.

good work on preventative measures! Now pics of the gf or ban.
“If the representatives of the people betray their constituents, there is then no resource left but in the exertion of that original right of self-defense which is paramount to all positive forms of government, and which against the usurpations of the national rulers may be exerted with infinitely better prospect of success than against those of the rulers of an individual State. In a single State, if the persons intrusted with supreme power become usurpers, the different parcels, subdivisions, or districts of which it consists, having no distinct government in each, can take no regular measures for defense. The citizens must rush tumultuously to arms, without concert, without system, without resource; except in their courage and despair.” – Alexander Hamilton, Federalist No. 28
Good job man. Like others have said, you deserve much respect here for the projects you take on by yourself and take the time for pics and write ups.

Such kind words thanks
ditto on what's been said, nice job catching it soon and good luck with it holding together!
nice work 2kredz3
Are you bringing the GF out on the drive tomorrow, or does she avoid all the gear head talk as much as possible HA.
Great write up and pictures! Was there any noticeable damage underneath the trunk floor/differential mount? If so, by any chance do you have pictures?
Wow, it's great to see someone who has the courage to tackle any job.
Great job on the welds too!
Seriously, I really appreciate all of your write-ups. And the courage is slightly contagious and extremely helpful for me. I hope that holds for long time as I know how much the ring can hurt your wallet. I got jealous of the ring my girl got so I bought the M as an engagement gift to myself. That REALLY hurt.
BTW - what's "cold" for you down there? 50?
thanks, if i could say something that everyone would put on the calendar to check every month it would be the trunk floor. it is much easier to look under the carpet then get under the car and i noticed the 1" crack under the car first go figure.
Thank you
she wouldnt miss it for anything. she even rescheduled her group project so she could come. she graduates in dec from SPSU with her degree in civil engineering finally going to have a sugar moma!
tomorrow i will try and get under the car and get a few pics of the repairs i did on the under side since i still have to paint them
Thank you for your kind words it was like 63 when those pics were taken. just about froze.
