It's about time you posted it here, brandon.
That would probably be my next car if it wasn't SMG ;(

Congrats on the turbo! Hope to get to see it soon

I've seen this car around. I would buy it but that SMG is definitely a deal breaker for me

Most of the guys like to row their own here, but I remember the Kole Kole Pass run. You could hear the difference between the 6 spds and the SMGs. The SMGs shifted so quickly it was ridiculous! I would drive one. I was contemplating Brandon's car even before I sold my red turbo. I thought it would make a great daily driver and the other turbo would complement it for shits and giggles.
Your right, it is impossible for someone to shift a manual faster than an SMG. With an SMG, it is better to lift off the throttle when shifting, or you will get the awful jump/jerk in the trans. Hard on the torque converter if you shift hard in high RPM's if you don't lift off the throttle.

yeah the only problem I had with SMG was 1. Worrying about it breaking (which it did and I replaced the pump and relay) and 2. The bucking when shifting (which is preventable if you lift off the throttle and drive it how it should be driven). Other than that, SMG was great for traffic, and shifted extremely fast during acceleration. If you haven't test driven an SMG yet I suggest you do so. Maybe it'll change your mind about buying my car
BTW I only replaced the pump about 3000 miles ago so it should last another 6 years..haha
Good luck Brandon.
You still need to borrow my OEM CD deck?

The SMG in the M5 is different from the SMG in the E46 M3 (SMG III vs. SMG II) but having lived with it for over a year I can see both sides of the argument. In traffic it can be a little logey, I never use "D". The downshifts are FTW. My biggest gripe is it is slow to downshift to 1 at a light but I can deal with that. One nice trick is if you pull on the paddles or push the shifter twice it will downshift 2 gears.
The actual transmission in an SMG II car is identical to the one in the 6MT car. The difference being the SMG car also has a hydraulic pump and computer which, together, control clutch engagement/disengagement. There are of course miscellaneous sensors, relays etc, but you get the picture...
I completely agree though, SMG shifts waaay faster than I ever could, but there always seems to be something missing It's (imho) just not as fun/engaging as driving a true manual. If I want to paddle shift, I'll play GRan Turismo on my PS2

Thanks Ho Joon, but I got the LED tails reflash done with A&A and they were able to do it without the stock radio. Did you wanna buy any of my parts? You know you want to!
